Site Questions and Announcements / Anyone going to Fall Fling Oct. 30?
« on: October 27, 2010, 10:09:29 AM »
Jerry and I will be there, as might "Little Chris" from Wasco.  Won't have any of our cars though.

General BS and Laughs / Hot Rod Reunion Pictures
« on: October 26, 2010, 08:45:17 AM »
I didn't shoot very many pictures this time, but here are a few Mopars I saw, plus a few others....  Enjoy!

This '55 was nicely customized.  He had a new Hemi under the hood.  The interior was trick too.

Aren't those vents from a Magnum?  They look so familier to me.

Yes, there was an A-100, unfortunately some Dude put a BB Chevy in it.  Boo!

I caught Jerry in mid-sentence.

I likey!!  I likey lots!!!

Ugly, but unique.  Still had the /6.

Brain Frick had his car there - it drew attention as it always does!

When was the last time you saw a poly motor in a rod?

OK, question time.  In what car did I find this GM product?

Could it be Mike Webber's '62 Savoy!!!

Yes, this car!!!  I told Mike I'm blowing that one up and showing the Club Members at our next meeting!!!!  :-)  (He said the stuff works well.  Right!)

General BS and Laughs / Over-Priced Mopar Stuff? Check this out!
« on: October 26, 2010, 08:34:36 AM »
OK People, step right up and pull out your cash!  No, the car does not come with these!

These were in the Swap Meet at Hod Rod Reunion, Famoso Raceway, Bakersfield.

General Tech / Wipers not recessing
« on: October 05, 2010, 11:23:05 AM »
The wiper arms on my '70 Newport have stopped recessing.  They are staying up and will stop in any position I turn off the switch.  But, even if I push, they will not recess.
Any thoughts?

General BS and Laughs / Dodge Trucks - R.I.P.
« on: October 04, 2010, 09:56:16 AM »
Have any of you noticed or read that Fiat has seperated the truck division from Dodge?  I read about it in one of my magazines - there is now Dodge cars and Ram Trucks.  This is being reflected in their ads on the tube - the name Dodge does not exist in the truck ads.
It bugs me because Chrysler bought AMC for the purpose of getting Jeep.  Once they did, AMC - and all of its models - was dead within 4 years.  I'm not making a case for a comppany that had bad management, but I am wondering if this is Fiat's first step in getting rid of Dodge all together.  Remember Plymouth?
On the same note, if their plans go through, Chrysler will no longer offer a "Hemi" in their cars.  Due to "environmental negativism" concering the Hemi motor, Fiat is very close to no longer using the name on Chryslers.  They will still use the same motors, but refer to them as 5.7 Liters instead of Hemi.
How about that BS???

General BS and Laughs / Jeff Gordon Fires Crew
« on: September 28, 2010, 08:14:45 AM »
At the crew’s first practice session, not only was the inexperienced crew able to change all 4 wheels in under 6 seconds, but within 12 seconds they had also changed the paint scheme, altered the VIN number, and sold the car to Dale Jr. for 10 cases of Bud, a bag of weed, and some photos of Jeff Gordon’s wife in the shower.[/color]Snotty2010-09-28 13:15:17

General BS and Laughs / '62 Savoy in Magazine
« on: September 14, 2010, 07:04:53 PM »
Many of you commented on my friend Mike Webber's car when I showed pictues of it in "Gremnlin Update."  I learned this evening that it is featured in a 6-page spread in Mopar Milestones.  I even learned - by reading the article - that his 413 Cross-ram started life as an Industrial motor.  Haven't we been discussing just such in other threads?
Check out the article and the magazine - it has several great articles.
Good for you Mike!

Remember these?  This was the first day the car was on the road.  Pictures were taken in front of my home.

General BS and Laughs / Some wrecked Imps in Nevada and...
« on: September 03, 2010, 10:26:15 AM »
While I was looking for some pulleys for the Gremlin in Nevada, I saw these two Imps in a yard.  The owner of another yard told me the owner of this one is never there.  He wasn't this day either....

This one appears to be complete.

While driving between yards I spied a pair of tail ligths.  Yes, I saw correctly - a '62!

A 4-door Newport on the side of the road with CA "black" plates.  I saw no one to inquire about it.

AC car.  I thought about all of the AC parts Steve needs for the New Yorker!

General BS and Laughs / D'oh!
« on: August 10, 2010, 01:20:54 PM »
‎"D'oh" moment of the day.  My Newport was mis-firing on #5 and 8.  I checked the jets on my carb - clean.  I pulled the plugs and found one bad wire (5) and one fouled plug (8).  Chris "the Doctor" suggested it could be vacuum.  One new plug and two new wires later - same problem.  AAArrrgh!  Then I saw it - missing vacuum cap on the brake booster.
Chris is good!

General BS and Laughs / Hot August Nights Mopar
« on: August 08, 2010, 06:44:03 PM »
Frances and I were at Reno's Hot August Nights this past week.  It's a great show that I had never attended, even though I lived in Carson City for two years.
I shot over 100 pictures of many cars, of which there were gobs, but these shots are just of some of the Mopars that were there.
Hope you enjoy!

This is an original owner car.  I wish she had opened her hood.  I do appreciate cars that are driven....

This Charger was in the Autorama.  The body work was performed by Dan Brown who doid the beautiful work on my Brother-in-law's Camaro.  It has a nice custom interior; it was they who were displaying the car.

These and below were in Sparks, NV.

I love this A-100.
More to come....

General BS and Laughs / My Newport is no longer "The Last"
« on: June 07, 2010, 09:19:57 AM »
When I bought my '70 Newpert, the seller told me it was supposed to be "The last Chrysler ragtop made until 1982."  I knew this would not make a dime of diference in the car's value, or lack thereof, but it made an interesting story when I showed the car.
When I regiestered it with Galen Govier he told me there was no way to confirm or deny that claim - even though a salesman's claim is VERY hard to verify, how did he know?  Galen told me the VIN records at Auburn Hills were destroyed in a fire.  He suggested I check every VIN and build code on every '70 ragtop I see and make the claim until I find otherwise.
My VIN ends in 262511 and has a 630 build date on the fender tag.
I found a Dodge Monaco 'vert made on July 5, but had not found a Chrysler with a later VIN or date...
...until now!  I saw a 300 'vert for sale on ebay.  Its VIN was 2627** (I don;t remember the last two numbers).  I asked him to tell me the build date or to send me a picture of the FT.  Once he understood what I was asking, and why, he looked on the FT.  (He had been looking at the plate on the driver's side door.)  701!

I now need to change the information sheet I place on my car when I take it to shows.

General BS and Laughs / Cool Video!

Just in case you didn't see it on my other thread!  Enjoy!

General BS and Laughs / Spring Fling Photos
« on: April 30, 2010, 10:27:11 AM »
Thought I'd take the time to post some of the other pictures I took while at Spring Fling.  Because Jerry's Gremlin was such a hit, we/I didn't wander very far from it, so my pictures are rather limited.  Hope you enjoy just the same!

E Bodies, B Bodies, and more, oh my!

Just behind us was this row made up of A and E 'Cudas, and more.

Thos Aussie car made a return visit.  I had posted it about two years ago at another Fling.

A person can't be alergic to Bees and come to this show.

Jerry's Gremlin was not the only AMC present.  There was also a Javelin accross the lawn, but I did not make it over there.

General BS and Laughs / "Faker" hoods
« on: April 20, 2010, 11:37:32 AM »
I saw something at Spring Fling I had not seen, or noticed before.  I saw two Challengers with "Shaker" hoods.  However, when they opened their hoods the "shaker" opened up too.  They were fake!  We started calling them Fakers!  Have any of you seen them?  I looked closely at one.  It is cleverly designed to look real when closed; there is a gap between the "shaker" and the hood on the front.

My opinion - NAH!

OK, here it is:

What do you say?
