Tech- - ELECTRICAL / Alternator on RB 383
« on: January 31, 2015, 01:31:05 PM »
Ok, I am trying to convert my '59 to an alternator. I bought the adapter brackets, but the alternator is hitting the distributor. (The distributor cap is off for the picture, just to align the alternator, but it will not go back on..) Picture is below. Any advise??

Tech- - STEERING WHEELS AND SUSPENSION / Front end rebuild kit
« on: May 10, 2013, 12:55:49 PM »
With the shimmy and shake of the steering wheel, and the front of the car in general, I think it's about time to replace stock bushings and all that jazz. The only problem is, I don't know what all I need. I'm looking at something like this:
Would this be something worth looking into? (I know it's ebay, I'm just trying to get an idea of what I would need. Thanks!!!)

Tech- - ELECTRICAL / Fuel gauge
« on: March 29, 2013, 07:00:29 PM »
Ok, so I have been woking on trying to get the fuel gauge in the Saratoga to work. I have been going through the tutorial on the main site. So far I have grounded the sending unit, which helped a little bit. The needle now goes up to 1/4 tank but then stops (car has a full tank).

I'm going to be checking the ground at the dash as well. Maybe I'll be able to get the dash lights working too! Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Site Questions and Announcements / Mobiel version
« on: March 03, 2013, 06:38:42 AM »
I was just wondering if it has been discussed to do a mobile version of the forums? I'm usually on my phone or tablet more than I am on my computer, and a few of the other forums that I am on utilize tapatalk. It is a free deal for the forum. Just a thought.

Hey all! I was wondering if anybody had any tips on where to look for a power steering pump. Mine works, but there is a leak at the low pressure return. Thanks!!

Tech- - STEERING WHEELS AND SUSPENSION / Torsion bar adjustment
« on: March 24, 2012, 08:10:55 PM »
Ok, so need a little advice. The drivers side of my toga is about an inch and a half lower than the passengers side. How hard is it to adjust the torsion bars to even this out? Is it pretty easy? Would I need any special tools or anything? Thanks!!

General BS and Laughs / Toga tattoo
« on: January 16, 2012, 08:05:39 AM »
Went in and got a tattoo that incorperated my 59 Toga. What do you think? It looks kinda warped because of the way I was standing, and my shoulder blade was jutting out at the bottom.

General Tech- - BRAKES / Brake light switch
« on: July 19, 2011, 08:26:35 AM »
Wasn't sure which section this should go in, since it's kind of a grey area. Got a new brake light switch for the Toga, but for the life of me, don't know where it goes...should have looked into that before hand huh? I've looked, and don't see anything that looks similar to this. Can someone help me out? Give me an area to focus my search, possibly a picture? Thanks!!!

Tech- - ELECTRICAL / Dumb question
« on: July 14, 2011, 09:47:36 AM »
So generator went out on the Toga, wanting to switch to an alternator. None of the auto parts stores around here are helpful at all on this situation. Where should I look for an alternator to go on the car, and what would I need to do, if anything, to any of the wiring? Thanks!!

So, update: I found the correct valve covers, got them in the mail yesterday, put them on, and no leaks. YES!  I also got the new radio (Retrosound USA deck) in and working. Just need to get the new speaker mounted so there is no more rattling. Drove it to work today. Going to work this weekend on getting it pretty for a car show on Monday. I will be taking pictures and will post them up later.

I figured I would update here, vice on any other topics I already had open since now it's more general updates. I'm glad to have the car drivable without having to worry about leaving a trail of where i've been.

Tech- - Engine / Getting the RB 383 back
« on: March 23, 2010, 07:45:17 AM »
Ok, so I'm starting to get stuff back. The cylinders were tapered, so they have been bored 20 over. Now my question, I'm looking for new pistons. Does anybody have any suggestions as to which pistons I should get? The new bore is 4.050, and all I can find are Ford, but nothing close to the 3.75 stroke. HELP!!! LOL!

Tech- - Engine / Exhaust Manifold options
« on: February 22, 2010, 10:53:35 AM »
Hello all. I just had a quick question to ask some people who would know. Do I have to use the stock exhaut manifolds on the RB 383 out of my '59 Saratoga, or are there some different aftermarket perfomance options? I'm trying to look at different options for when I have my exhaust made.
