Site Questions and Announcements / Thank-You...
« on: April 16, 2009, 12:27:42 PM »
I'd like to take this time to thank each and every one of you who supported us and said prayers for Sarah, MoparSiss' Mother.
Sarah went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband Charles this morning after a long and difficult downhill battle.  She was a strong fighter, having lived ninety-years on this earth.  Sarah remembered the Great Depression and World War Two with wonderful wit, and loved to talk about her experiences living through those times.  I will miss her stories, as told by her voice.
Our daily lives have been difficult for the past three months since Sarah took her turn for the worse.  We've tried to be strong for each other, both doing our best.  Your words of kindness and offers of prayers meant more than you will ever know, and we thank you.
God Bless and take care our Friends.

Mobby and Potatoe arrived here early Friday afternoon safe and sound, and were they in for a culture shock!  Mobby was especially intrigued by this quaint little community that rolls-up it's sidewalks at 5 every day excluding Sunday when they stay rolled-up.
Their visit was also blessed by Mother Nature.  Friday's high temp was a thermometer-bustin' 6-degrees and we were plastered with snow all day Sunday which forced the guys to stay another night!  (Which actually worked-out well because that gave Mobby more time to eradicate the sheet of fudge that was in the fridge!)
On Saturday I gave them the nickel tour and we visited several locations in and around Altoona.  The highlight was at the expense of Siss' son Shelby though.  We had lunch at Hooters and he didn't know whether to shiite or go blind!
We all had a great time!  Good eats, plenty O' beer and wine, and the best of company!  Yoos two need to come back when the weather is more agreeable.

General BS and Laughs / Happy Holidays to ALL!
« on: December 24, 2008, 12:51:06 PM »
Being it is now Christmas Eve I wanted to wish everyone here a joyous holiday!  Siss and I also want to wish the best to all for the upcoming new year.  We hope Santa brings you what you yearn for.

(I'm not sure if this present is for me or Shemp, but I can't wait to see it opened so I can determine what's inside that makes it SOOOO destructive!)

General BS and Laughs / God Speed Andy!
« on: December 19, 2008, 03:23:35 PM »
This afternoon Siss and I said goodbye to a brave young man.  He was stalwart in fighting his cancer to the very end, his mother and father expected him to pass several years ago.  Andy Kirsch lived long enough to graduate high school and take-on the world!  We both loved him as a friend and family member until he couldn'r fight anymore.
Andy passed-away peacefully on Wednesday 12-17-2008 at twenty-years of age.  His father had been building his casket from scratch for some time.  It was a beautiful work of art!
We all knew he was dying but Andy's strenght was a tribute to all of us in our endevours!  If it's worth pursuing it will be!  God Speed Andy!

and everybody is dressing up!

Siss just LOVES her costume, can't you tell....

No witch costume is complete without a cat!  REEEEER!

I do not understand the funky haze...  nobody was smoking!  Shemp detects a prescence...

Must be this Ogre that Shemp senses...  mean looking aint' he?  GREAT costume however!  (NOTE:  the wet spots on the ogre's shirt are the result of a fresh shave and NOT spilt beer)

Rev. Shelby thinks he's George C. Scott!  That's his friend Amber on the right.  Tomorrow is trick or treat and my sweet tooth is already hurting!  Now I just need to get Siss a broom...
Happy Halloween gang!

Especially when it's FREE TONKA TRUCKS!
A friend of mine from another on-line club sent me a giant care package today.  This package contained old toy trucks, and this was among them

He's all there minus the tailgate.  Judging by the waterline in the bed he's been outside for a while.  This guy is going to be my first full-blown Tonka restoration and I'm going to reuse as many of the original parts as possible.
Whaddaya think?

General BS and Laughs / Look what MoparSiss horked from werk!

Well, she bought them from her cash drawer actually.

She gets silver coins all the time as well.  These bills are all 1957 series, and rather worn.  Still neat just the same and I wonder if Fort Knox still honors these...
