I am probably gonna get a junkyard head simply because it would be quicker than getting the head rebuilt.  I need this car back on the road like last week.  Lol

Find a head that doesn't have a broken or brand new belt, haha.

OEM is the easiest if there is a Dodge dealership nearby. People using head bolts off egay have been saying the bolts are wrong several times, along with a bolt or two which have broken. Head gasket will be the MLS, which is good, head bolts and upper gasket set is right around $200.

Got parts ordered,  went to rock auto for them,  felpro gaskets and bolts.  Got the intake off and exhaust unbolted. Pulling the head tomorrow. And tracking down a head that isn't outrageously expensive or broken.

So a little concerned.  I removed my old head in anticipation of the new head arriving tomorrow,  and it looks fine. Normal carbon buildup but the valves look ok to me. Will get some pictures up later tonight.

You can't always see a bent valve

Agree. Turn the sprocket and watch what is going on. Another thing you can try is removing the cam so all the valves are closed and pour a little bit of something like laquer thinner down behind each valve and see if it then bleeds through to the combustion chamber. If the valves are closed, you might be able to see a tiny ring of the fluid that bleeds through, but a larger amount will make its way through easier. Valves have to be closed to make this check. Laquer thinner is good because it will evaporate and not rust anything.

If things are that bad with it, I have another solution to use.  By that time it doesn't matter

What's that Steve? ? So replaced the head,  set the timing,  and got it all together.  Now it runs. Bad rough idle and when I start the car rpms rush up and down.  Loud too. Well louder than usual.

Louder?  Do you have an exhaust leak?  Or is it a mechanical noise?
Make sure the oil is getting to the head

How did you set the timing? It's all sensor controlled. Yeah, check for exhaust leaks and the revving/high rpm can be a vacuum leak.

Well pictures aside,  the car is back together and running.  Had to take it all apart again due a bad cam seal, but overall not bad. Running good. Smokes quite a bit until warmed up. But I can handle that.  Gonna replace the car next spring.  Too rusty and beat up lol
