I'm replacing my trunk seal and wanted to use the best adhesive. Is loctite any better than 3M? Is the 3M yellow the same as the black?

I have personally had good luck with the black 3M stuff, but I don't know the difference between them.

The yellow is known as "Gorrlila Snot" I like the black better. It seems to me to tack up better. Also if you get a little too much on it doesn't show up as much. Just my 2 cents.

Oddly enough I agree with you Chris.  The black seems to be better.  Maybe because it is more viscous than the "snot".  (I held back on that.)  But 3M told me they were the same.

I use the black....it's a different type of glue than the yellow now....it was reformulated and now is much better. I have to stick the door gaskets on a 1950's Mercedes Gullwing we've been upholstering  and will be using the 3M black....it's a black car with red leather and a tan cloth headliner so I need to keep excess glue from ruining the cloth. It isn't as runny as the yellow stuff. Plus it sticks to leather really well.
