383 C-Body Oil Pan

So, I recently picked up a '69 Monaco Wagon, and I see that the oil pan is dented. It runs, seemingly well enough, but I would like to look into replacing it. Not immediately, but I am putting it on my project list.
 
So what I need to find out is, which ones are compatible? I understand that a 383 from a B-Body would have a different pan because of the K-member vs the C-Body sub frame, but I wonder if all of the C-Body MoPar's from '69-73 would share the same pan on a 383...
 
I presume I'll need to raise the motor in order to get the pan out. Are there any other gotcha's to look out for?

WELCOME!
 
Any Big Block pan will work.  I happen to have a nice one here.  It has a very slight dent in it, hard to see until you look at it.
 
As far as snags, the higher you can lift the engine, the better.  Other than that, disconnect the exhaust pipes.

Hold on, Boopie.  You know that's not true.
There's a lot of pans out there from BB trucks that won't fit because they are front sump.
LOTS of 933 pans out there.  Grab one of those.

Stan, there's no "legend" to explain what the "no, yes, some" are referencing.  Can you help?

C body oil pans have the dent to clear the pitman arm.
To make removal easy,as mentioned,raise the engine,drop the exhaust,and also drop the center link from the idler and pitman arms.
The only other Mopar that used the same pan is the B/RB A body cars (68-69 Dart GTS 383,69 440 GTS) Rare cars to begin with.
BTW,since you plan on doing the pan,you should install a windage tray at the same time.
No foaming of the oil,and also adds 15 HP for free.

The aftermarket center sumps do work.  I used one in Polaraco.  You have to look at it, but they taper the corners straight to the back, vs. the dent they put in for the C's.   However, I have only heard of one person having the center link dragging on the pan.  After he put a new trans mount in, the problem was over.

There are really only two factory pans with the idler arm indentation for C bodies from '65-73, the 187 and 699 pans. The 933 pan was used from '74-78 and may not work on an older model. Here is a link to 440Source's oil pan page:

Some aftermarket pans fit as well--I use a 7 qt pan and matching oil pickup from CFR-it needs a small 1"x1"x 1/4" divot hammered into it to fully clear the idler arm (beware-it hangs down 2" lower than the factory pan and is easy to damage.

Never, EVER buy a chrome pan.

That pan clears the idler arm on a C body? I thought it extended too far to the rear.

What oil pump pickup do you use? Does Milodon make one just for this pan that is 3/8th's ?
