What's going on here?  Looks like the water pump housing gasket popped a cork?
It was pouring out last night.

They do wear out Stan.  At least it's a big block wp and not one of the PITA small block pumps!

It's either that or you blew a gasket.  Maybe a pin hole in the sand casting popped out.

I can't quite tell where you see the origin of the leak.  Can you put an arrow on it?

When I disassemble everything, I'll have a better idea.  I'll take a shot then.  My heart's not into jumping on it right this second.

The good news is that this was The Nyb's first real shake down cruise. I hammered that engine.  Ever see a New Yorker with a 36 year old suspension pass a truck at 110 on a crowned 2 laner?  Yee-ha.
Sheet yer pants time.

Make sure the surface is square and pit free. Take a block or I like a heavy piece of glass, wet/dry of 120 grit  first  and make a couple cross hatch marks to make sure there isn't a small warp on the waterpump housing on the block itself (rebuilt water pumps, or new ones, are pretty square to start with). Make sure the block of whatever is long enough to go across the whole housing, one side only won't do it properly.
