I never had a manifold.  I did have a guy that was going to make one for me.

I have some very expensive carburators for that too.

He's on Jelopy Journal.  I have his user name saved

Brian,

Sounds like a real sweet project. I have a friend who is also in the National Desoto Club with a 48 2 door sedan. It is one very cool look. He has the Fluidrive trans which is kinda unforgiving.

Steve do you still have that dual carb manifold?

I never had a manifold.  I did have a guy that was going to make one for me.

I have some very expensive carburators for that too.

I thought I remember you looking at the summit one from Offy?

For $230 it's not a bad price.  Probably the surfaces will be truer then an old original one.

What carbs do you have?  The Holley webers?

Well I now have a motor and tranny!!

The two motors locally didn't pan out. One I would have had to pull
myself and it had cracked intake and exhaust manifolds. The other
turned out to be the shorter 23" flathead motor.

So I e-mailed the guy and told him I'd take the motor and tranny. And
just because it never hurts to ask, I asked him if he was firm on the
price? And then asked if he would consider $850...well he took my
offer!!

So in 2 weeks I'm going up to get it.  5 hour drive one way though.  Should be a fun trip!

My friend saved his 48 from the salvage yard. He's notorously  thrifty. He did most of the work himself. The engine and trans were original, though he did have some problems with the cooling system.

If you like I can put you in touvh with him. I'm sure he could answer most of your questions.

He was interested if your car was a Custom or a Delux.
