Hey guys, I just got back from taking the Hurst for a spin.......car ran great, but I tested the headlight doors........when you throw the Light switch on, it opened the doors (lights work).....but, when you turn the Light switch off, the doors don't close and the switch makes a clicking and/or beeping noise (lights turn off).....sounds like it's trying to close the doors but no go.......is that a bad relay or switch?.......they worked OK after Snotty put the new door motor in.......

Chris "the Doctor" said to replace the relay when we put that new motor on.  Since you're hearing it behind the switch I'd say he's probably right.

You told me you can roll them closed.  Does the sound stop or keep going after that?

Maybe the door motor is stuck?

crank the motor closed a tad and turn the key on and see if they close.  Maybe they are binding.  That noise you are hearing is them trying to close.

He's done that alrteady.  The noise is coming from the switch, not the motor.

yes, the noise is definitely coming from behind the switch.......the doors close fine manually, so I don't think there's a mechanical problem.......the switch only makes the noise when you try to open/close the doors.......I had the switch off when I was manually closing them......sounds like a relay is in order........anybody got one?

Steve, go see Chris.  He mentioned the relay when we first swapped that motor.  It worked fine and now doesn't?  I would find it hard to beleive that two motors went bad in less than two years.  Chris had an idea about the relay.  He did say they were the same ones used on the 70's Chargers.

It's about time we do another Saturday work day - eh?

Buzzing like that is usually a feed back of some kind.  I can make ice cube relays buzz.

Maybe  a point broke off the relay

yes Snotty, we have to put the 7 blade fan on that I got from Polaraco.......we can fiddle with it then.....I don't think it's the motor, that seemed to work fine.......sounds like a switch or relay
