I was viewing the "Welcome Rockwerkz" thread and wanted to make a comment about slant 6s when I discoved that it was locked.  What I don't know is why?
I would appreciate it in the future if an explanation as to why a thread was locked.  Unless the deal was the 3 commets from that one dope, I can't see why that thread was locked.  I'd rather you delete the offender and his/her comments than to lock an entier thread.

General BS and Laughs / This is what I call a Distraction!
« on: February 13, 2010, 07:02:30 PM »
While we were working to ge tthe Gremlin running, my friends Mike Webber and Linda Parlier brought their '62 Savoy by.  They just finished it!  This took us off the Grem for an hour!  Enjoy!

That's a real 413, not a 440 with 413 decals.  Mike does all the work himself, including body and paint.

I think it's georgous!

I've had several people ask about the weather here, including a call from Stevo yesterday.  (Sorry I forgot to return the call. )  The mudslides and heavy rain you've been hearing about is in So. Cal. - 2 hours away.
We are getting a good supply of rain here, but less that they are there.
Thanks just the same!

Site Questions and Announcements / 2006 Non-Mopar Pickup for sale!
« on: January 17, 2010, 03:39:57 PM »
Sorry, not a Mopar, but a great bargain and in a hurry!
Anyone interested in a 2006 Ford F150 XLT Pickup?  It is my Mother-in-law's.  It is fully equipped, including bed-liner and Class III Hitch (never used), is an "Extra Cab," with only 4,700 miles.   You read that correctly!  She turned 86 this week and did not renew her Lisence.  If interested you have 'till this Tuesday (Jan. 19) to tell me.  $17,900.00.
Why Tuesday?  Because that's when we hear from Ford Motor Credit to see if they'll dismiss her debt and take it back.  I'd buy it if we had not purchased a car this past year.  It's almost new except for the fact it is four years old.
Call me if interested - 661-205-0790.

General BS and Laughs / What did you do on Christmas Eve?
« on: December 31, 2009, 08:50:57 AM »
Jerry and I played our horns with two others on the sidewalk in front of the sanctuary.  Had a ball!  Wish you could have been there!

Matt Wolfe on Alto, Chris Grundt ('69 Charger) on Tenor, me on Valve 'Bone, and Jerry on 'Bone.

My daughter, Mariah, took these shots.

This is looking south-west.  The front door points north.  The building was completed on Easter, 1947.

This is the front of the Chancel taken in "natural light."  Beautiful, yes?

General BS and Laughs / Headers on the Gremlin!
« on: November 16, 2009, 09:33:06 AM »
I know a lot of you don't care, but Jerry and I finally got the headers mounted on the Grem last Saturday.  If you want to see pictures, join my friend list on Facebook.  (I only let my friends see my stuff.)  Search for Scott Allred.
Sorry about not posting any here, but I don't need to shrink and upload pictures to that site, so I find it much easier.  Tjhat's not intended as a salm, just a matter of fact.
Also, those that don't care won't look anyway.
Enjoy if you do!

General Mopar Discussions / Jamaican Car Show
« on: August 28, 2009, 10:29:08 AM »
When I was in Jamaica in early August it was the week for their Independence Day.  In the parade in Downtown Kingston, there were a few cars.  When was the last (only) time you saw a Lada?
These are not Mopars, but take a close look a the steering wheels - you can tell those that were sold in Jamaica from those that were brought over.  Enjoy!

Where's Bonnie?  We met on GremlinX and she tried to log on here.  What's up?"
Just because she has "Chevy" in her email name is no reason to deny her entry....

« on: July 04, 2009, 09:20:45 AM »
Hey People, if you're in Kern County on Saturday, July 25, you are welcome to join our Car Cruise!  We will meet @ 3:00 p.m. at Chuys on Rosedale Highway.  We will leave at 4:00 and do a cruise.  We will end up at Steve Fogel's home for a Barbecue and Pot-luck!  He lives in a new development on some low hills.  His is the only house there at the time so there will be no problem with nagging neighbors about where to park.
This event is open to all makes and models.
If you want to join us, please IM your name to Steve.  He will need you name or you won't be able to get in past the security gate.  Seriously!
Bring some food to share and join us for the cruise, food, and fun on a hot July day in the Bake!

MEMBERS Project Cars in Progress / Gremlin / Newport Question Update
« on: June 12, 2009, 08:06:54 AM »
It's just about the summer, and Jerry and I finally did some more work on the Grem.  We added a piece of turned aluminum on the glove box to match that which was done by my brother-in-law a year ago.  We also had an A Body driveshaft shortened and balanced, so the drive-line is not completely attached.
Today, Big John Hutchings is supposed to come by and help us wire the motor bay.
Anyway, I wanted to show you the result of the work jerry and I did last Friday.  A buddy has an AMC AM-FM factory radio.  We are going to buy it form him and fill in the hole.  We also have a carpet kit to install.  There's still plenty more to do, but it;s coming along....

POLARACO2014-04-17 01:46:46

I saw it today in Hemmings Motor News!  It was listed with a bunch of "movie cars" in a single ad.  It said something like,
Was $45,000, now 19,000!
What a joke!!  I'll try to get the page number if you want to look it up!

Tech- - DRIVE TRAIN / Different U-Joint Sizes
« on: May 12, 2009, 09:26:51 AM »
I did not realize there were three different rear u-joints for Mopar rears!
Perhaps you know that I installed a Mopar A Body 8.75 under the Gremlin.  Jerry and I replaced the axles and brakes with 4.5" bolt axles and all new brake hardware.  We also swapped the 3.55 Open rear with the 3.23 SG I took out of the Newport.  No problem!
Well, here's where it got weird.  I picked up an A Body driveshaft at Fall Fling last year.  This past month we took it to a shop to get shortened and have the T-10 AMC-specific front yoke attached.  I told them what case I have on the rear.  With no further questions asked we left and I picked up the new shaft a few days later.
BTW, the shaft looks great!!  It cost $123.00 to cut, balance, and fit the u-joints and yoke.  Much better than the $500.00 I was quoted to get one custom-made!
OK, I installed the shaft (Jerry was woring on the interior).  It fit like a glove!  BUT, when I went to connect the rear joint to the rear yoke I learned that there are two different size rear yokes!!
I guess these are not specific to the case, for I told them it was a 489; I had this third member on my Newport - it was a perfect fit!  I held the u-joint up to the rear I got from Mark - perfect!  I learned then that I will need to make a swap on my u-joint when I install that one on my Newport.
Long story getting shorter, I got a correct u-joint last Friday and installed it.  It fits and works great!  It needed to be wide on the shaft, yet short for the third member.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be sure of the sizes of your third memeber and shaft before you buy a u-joint.  Apparently, they are not specific to the type of rear you have.
I did not know that.
