Well the impact/mechanical plating is really needed since you can't pour the powder over the top of a bullet and expect it to stay put during the whole firing sequence.  You basically tumble the parts you're trying to get the stuff to stick to with a bunch of harder material,  i.e. steel shot, and over  the course of hours the material is bonded to the surface.

For the colloidal suspension, take a given amount of your oil, a certain portion of the hBN, take out your wifes hand blender and whip it all together so there's no clumps.

thx gentlemen.  It's a long way still to go.  I saw some spots when spraying that made me think I should go buy that 30" durablock long board.  I thought the 24" would be able to pull the job off but I guess not.   Or at least not with my skill level.  Was the juice worth the sqeeze?  Oh I don't know.  I think the knowledge earned was.

 And I'm, behind on the winters project of getting the trans rebuilt.  To be honest I'm waiting on my bonus to be able to afford the rebuild kit.

Got a .25" of ice here today.  Schools closed, it's the damnedest thing.  They'll close schools around here for about anything.

Never done it myself or know anyone else that has, but make sure the routing turns the water pump in the correct direction. Attaching the needed pulleys shouldn't be too difficult, but adding the tensioner might be the fun part as to where to attach it. If I were doing it, I would get pictures of existing setups to help locate everything.

I think the hardest part is going to be the crank pulley.  well that and finding the proper length belt.  And figuring out the PS pump issue, keeping it from flopping around as they did then.

Anyone attempt to put a serpentine belt on an old bigblock yet?  Other than the aftermarket companies that is.  I'm looking for advice for factory parts from later vehicles.

At some point in the future here I'll be converting to MPI and then I expect AC from the RV to sanden.  I figure if I'm going to modern up the car that much I may as well keep going and get a modern belt system too.

Yeah I know it doesn't say that in the paper.  It's something I came to accept from the firearms world that the coating must be impact plated.   I guess in that world impact plating makes sense since it's not in colloidal suspension.

It's a powder.

I's 70 nanometers.  I think oil filters are on the several micron level.    be like rolling a golf ball down a sewer.  Anyway. the hBN really works well but its film is built by impact.  Ie it onlt sticks to metal and forms a layer when it's been schmacked.  When I tumbled bullets in it they cam out so slick you could barely hang on to em.

I did more reading on it and about 760-800 hours after being suspended in oils it falls out and settles.  So that said if you park your ride for a month the stuff is going to settle out.

Here's one small study;

It's interesting.  Their oil additive is just hBN.  I've got pounds of the 70 nano meter stuff sitting around.  Used it when I was in to boom stick competitions.  A little goes a long way.  Just never wanted to be the guiniea pig for an engine.  Glad they had the cajones to do it.

The interior panel ready to be welded back in.

The reason...  Cut it out so I could get behind it to plannish the weld.  It allowed me to bring the low spots up really nicely.
