General BS and Laughs / Fun with Ultra-One!
« on: September 10, 2008, 02:36:33 PM »
When Siss and I left New Jersey on August 29 Polaraco sent a sample of U-1's deruster with us.
I've been experimenting with it and getting to know it's limitations.  I caught the cat trying to drink it (from a container on the kitchen counter where she IS NOT allowed to be).  I accidentally ingested some (coffee cup mix-up when my glasses were in the other room, however I've NEVER been soooo regular and my gray hair shines ever-so brightly ).
All jokes aside this is what impressed me.  Check out this never-painted clam bucket on this 1970 Nylint Michigan shovel.

YUCK!   But let's try this...

Just makes you want to grab a spoon and dig-in don't it!  Mmmmmmmmm...
Let's give it some time to werk.

WOW!  I'm SOLD, and that bucket only soaked for 45 minutes!  The discoloration in the solution is from the removed rust deposits.
Now I just need a vessel large enough to drive my Coupe DeVille into so I can flood it with U-1!  Thanks again Steve!

Site Questions and Announcements / Tom's father has passed...
« on: August 30, 2008, 02:01:44 PM »
I just spoke to Tom D. (Furyman67-with a broken pooter and asked me to do this for him) on the phone and he called to tell me the news.  Tom said that his dad went to the Lord peacefully and not in pain.
God Bless you and yours Tom, you all are in our thoughts and prayers!  God Speed to your father!

« on: August 03, 2008, 02:53:28 PM »
I went to see a gentleman about a Land Rover today and then found this

There was nobody around to ask, so it may not even be for sale.  What a time capsule though!  Decent interior and chrome, perfect glass, and no signs of rust!  The paint is driver quality as it's been resprayed at some point.  She's been inside for a looong time.  By far, this is the best looking 1957 Ca dill ac I have ever seen
I want it!

General BS and Laughs / Out and About with a Camera...
« on: July 20, 2008, 05:07:01 PM »
I figured I'd share a few photos from my most recent beer run to Altoona with you guys.  I try to carry a camera with me wherever I go, because you never know what you will see.

MGA 1600-Mk.II.  Sleek and sexy!  Driven from Florida to the Horse-shoe Curve.

Blue Knob State Park's ski slopes.  (The only time you'll find this guy on a ski slope )  The scenery speaks for itself!
All I can say is elegance forgotten.  A Rolls Royce Silver Wraith parked in the weeds in front of a trailer...  LOL!
Now fer some train pix!  You seein' this P?

(The batteries in my digi were crapping out so don't blame me fer the fuzziness )
A pair of NS SD40-2 pushers heading for the Gallitzin Tunnels (westward)...

Then this eastbound stack train emerged from the New Portage Tunnel...

While photographing the stack train this Amtrak train got into my now fuzzier viewfinder with an aging Genesis P42 on the point (AND on time for once!)

This is how this unemployed slob spent his Sunday!
Siss and I went to an abandoned cemetery after this (Her genealogy research) and the sky turned black and we got rather wet in short order.  I'm glad we got some beer!

An officially licensed model of a Bucyrus 8750 Walking Dragline in 1/50th scale!  It measures nearly 10' long and is over 5' tall at the flag pole!

Now I'm back to the big mirror for more practice

I forgot to ask about yer breaker points.
A loose .0017 or a tight .0018 are where you want them.  OR about 30-degrees of dwell angle if you have a meter...
With the points open at a dizzy cam lobe a match book cover should JUST fit between the contacts with a slight drag.

General BS and Laughs / Our trip to Erie, and why...
« on: March 10, 2008, 03:36:37 PM »
Why would anyone travel during one of the most advertised winter storms of Pennsylvania's 2007-2008 winter season?  Siss and I drove into it just north of Mercer on I-79 Friday afternoon and witnessed 15 accidents in less-than 60 miles!
My Mom had a severe heart attack.  She was air-flighted to Erie's Hamot Medical Center from Warren on early Thursday.  She was bleeding internally from the stint placed in her heart and was unconscious from late morning Thursday until the time we left today.
According to her doctors her vitals are fine, but she only awoke only once (today) for a short period of time.  She saw my dad and sister.  We wanted to stay for this chance encounter but could not...
People have heart attacks and stints inserted in America every minute of every day but why is mom's so different?  She is 58, and lightly smokes.  We've went round and round over the years...  She's 4'-10" and a real fighter!  I was taller than she when I was eleven but she NEVER took my Shiite!
Siss and I (along with Dad and Sister and Gramma) need a few prayers, you too Snotty! (You know how we feel about you...)  Thanks Folks
The storm.
Erie got nearly 16-inches of fresh new snow between the time we were en'route until Sunday morning.
View NW towards Erie's Mellon building and the lake.  Saturday AM

General view SW.  FWD cars plowing snow...

Sunday's adventure to the Soldiers and Sailors home.  The blue sky was a wonder to behold after the storm

This is W. 10th Street, NOT plowed...  The thrown snow is from 4WD's!  I think it's a Chevy

More winter fun...  still en'route to Erie Soldiers and Sailors home.  (Dad and I escaped to visit my grandad for a bit...)

Mom and dad just traded thier Buick Lucerne on a new Eddie Bauer Exploder.  Our Jeep was safely parked in the hotel garage.

I'm done ranting now.  Just worried about my mom...
