General Mopar Discussions / Dodge 1500 Diesel????
« on: September 24, 2008, 04:36:52 PM »
OK  for years the only Pick up available in a Diesel was the 2500 and 3500.  Many years ago, GM destroyed the diesels in the US with that junk 5.7 and 6.2 Olds Conversions.
Soap Box
Some of you who know me have heard me say the Americans are spoiled.  They don't want the smell.  They don't want the noise.  MY SUV will be a dog.  Poppy Cock.  Those same whiners are the ones who want 60 MPG, and no tail pipes.  A physical impossibility.  The conflicts these tree huggers create is incredible.    The new Dodge Diesels with all these "Voluntary" emissions systems are using more fuel, and running hotter than ever.  It used to be a diesel was cleaner than a gas engine except for the soot.   You are forced to pay an extra $1000 for the emission systems, and another $1000 to get rid of them.  But hte gain is 3 MPG and a cooler running engine.  I know very soon, mine won't be melting allot of ice.  I cruse now with exhaust temps down to 500 F, from 800 F.  Don't tell me I'm contributing to global warming
Liberals. . . .  Bah  No common sense.  Make up your minds!
I have to commend Chrysler for taking a bold step in the market place.  They really want to become something again.  Loogout Ford
Here's what Dodge is up too.

General BS and Laughs / Miss Me?
« on: September 12, 2008, 02:00:40 PM »
I was away all week, very little computer time.  Drove 3900 miles in 5 days.  I stopped and visited with 60Dart in West Vorginny, and stopped in Breezwood PA and visited a 45 year friend.  Otherwise I would have been home last night.
I took some pictures along the way. . .there is one or two that will interest Matt.  But the one i missed was a Pink Late 70's Caddoo painted pink.  It was sitting on a mound on the side of Rt 70 in Kansas.  Painted on the side in big black letters was the word "DINER"
FINALLY!  A use for a Caderack

Speak louder.  I can't hear you!  LOL
$2.50 an hour and 4 years of college was 15,000.  Gas was 26 Cents, Milk was 89 Cents a gallon.  Everybody spoke English, and we didn't have the traffic snarls we have today.  People were courteous and everybody was willing to help one another.

« on: August 23, 2008, 05:29:44 PM »
Nobody brought any money and they wouldn't take canuck dough so he ended up working off a very big lunch for 3!  Potatoe had to scrub floors and I got to supervise

The one of him at the dishwasher didn't come out
He was released in my custody to complete the engine swap on the Toga.  We completed the swap and have the 383 running.

General BS and Laughs / HEY AZBLACK! We have a job for youuuuuu
« on: August 22, 2008, 04:16:16 PM »
Hey Chris
There was an accident today near here.  Leaburn saw it on his way to my house.  We were over at the impound yard as saw the busses.  They said they needed a bus body man right away!  We told them "We got the guy for you!"
Seriously, this could have been allot worse.  Two busses collided on Rt 80 putting us in gridlock for most of the day.  Sorry for the heavy down load, but here are the pictures Leaburn got.
This is the bus that went off Rt 80 onto a set of train tracks.

Tech- - DRIVE TRAIN / 2 Clutch Pedal Questions
« on: August 18, 2008, 05:26:14 AM »
Anybody ever convert a shift car from Manual to Power Brakes?
Question #2
How the hell do you get the clutch pedel return spring back on?
Does it go over the pivot bolt or under it???
The FSM isn't too specific on how the spring goes.  If I go over the pivot bolt, the spring looks like it will restrict the throw of the pedal.  If I go under it, it doesn't have any tension on the pedal to return it.
WeeBee, don't forget that booster.  We have some fabricating to do
