How many miles were on that chain? Makes me think both the '68 440 powered cars here should get new ones.  Did the car run at all?

I'd like to have the convertible back to full strength by the time the sun is. Maybe also new springs and a freshened engine for the New Yorker.

Wow, have I been up to my neck! I did finally get the convertible to run and it's mostly back together except for the exhaust and the hood being on straight.  It's loud as hell currently, but it runs OK. I put the top down a couple of weekends ago and putted around the block in it.

Now getting ready to mothball stuff for the Winter, SIGH.

Renew is good stuff. A shop used it in both my 300 and Newport Custom before repros. were available.  6 years and no leaks.

The idler pulleys are available from Bouchillion Performance in South Carolina. They're pretty cheap I think.

Thanks to all of you, I appreciate it.  All I have to do is make it through September and all will be well.  For financial reasons, the cars aren't being driven as much, but I am still enjoying them.

The convertible came home from the rental garage on the trailer last Saturday. This will allow me to work on it here and get it finished.

Thanks again for thinking of me.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
First  I want to apologize for not having been on more lately. I have been up to my neck with work, school, and other issues that have prevented me from spending more time here.

1. Work-it's busy as hell (a great thing, not complaining!) but it's stretching me to 12+ hour days alsmot 6 days a week.

2. I'm back in school after a 13 year hiatus-it's only one class (BIOLOGY!) but at least I'm back after it.  Great thing is if I get a B or better work pays for it.

3. Now the primary reason for my absence over the last several months-my wife and I are divorcing she's moving out of the area. I've been dealing with this since February, even before.  This is all a plus, my friends, trust me, and we are parting as great friends. Also on the plus side:

A.) I feel great about the split, it should have happened a long time ago
B.) Cars are safe, not in jeapordy, still mine and always will be
C.) I am keeping the house (and the 3 car garage!) and only had to buy her out. Hey. what's 50K among friends? LOL

I don't usually do this type of broadcasting, but in light of my flippant behavior at Carlisle and not getting back to people, I felt it necessary to explain myself.

The only down side is now I REALLY have to lose 20 pounds if I ever expect to date again!

Thanks for listening, I appreciate it.

Snotty, I still need it. Is that in the '70 Plymouth SM? I just finally unpacked mine and never thought to look there.

Remember, get the 650 AVS style and plumb it with a factory fuel line.  I did this on my New Yorker and am thrilled with it.  I had two different Holleys on there and both started off barely OK and just fell flat.  I bolted the new Edelbrock AVS on and I don't hink I touched it.  Electric choke is nice, too.

Tech- - Engine / ZDDP and cam lobe problems
« on: June 30, 2008, 05:48:31 PM »
I just bought 6 gallons of Coastal brand 15w40 at Autozone. It's SL rated oil and has closer to the former levels of zinc.  New oils are SM rated and may be OK for an engine that's already broken in, but not for a new engine.

I'm going back for more of the Coastal stuff this coming month.  The only other SL rated oil I saw recently was the 15w40 in the  Walmart brand.  Even  Rotella and Delo has switched to SM ratings.

UPHOLSERY HOW TOO's / '68 New Yorker seat cleaning
« on: June 30, 2008, 05:45:08 PM »
Hey Bob,

The original seat in my '68 New Yorker needs a good cleaning.  The upholstery is dark blue, not vinyl but the parachute like material. It's the standard New Yorker bench for '68 (and very comfy).

What can I clean it with? I'd like to get it as close to new as possible without replacing it as there's not a tear in it.

Thanks in advance! Maybe this gives me an excuse to come visit!

Note empty beer bottles on bench. It's that time of the year!

Looks great Lea!

Hmm, I wonder what that bracket is on the inner wheel house that holds the hoses? I think A bodies used a similar bracket, I may use one of those to look like the above.

Guys,

Most of you know that my mini vacation every year is to Carlisle, PA to attend the big show in July.  With my usual foresight, I booked one extra room.  Since my friend Bob's wife is not attending, his room is surplus as well in addition to the room I have.  These are in the closest hotel to the show grounds.  Email me at rbrogle@comcast.net ASAP if you're interested.  After tomorrow, they'll get posted on Moparts.
