Tech- - DRIVE TRAIN / Bellhousing bolt patterns...
« on: January 05, 2011, 11:57:22 AM »
I'm trying to figure out what bolt pattern the cummins motors run on
their 727/518 trannies.  Some say the V10 and cummins share the same
pattern, but does not the V10 run a small block bellhousing pattern
since it's loosely based on the 360 maggy motor?

...well at least for my wife....she got let go from her job today!!
Working as a legal secretary at the largest law firm in our area. No
warning at all.  So things are going to be tight here for a while.
Going from a two income household to a single is going to a big change.

So working on the cars is going to have to take a back seat for a while.

General Tech- - BRAKES / Brake drag, and hot MC??
« on: July 22, 2010, 01:48:24 PM »
I've been having a on going problem with the rear drums in the wagon.
After a while of driving, when things get warm/hot, the rear drums
drag.  They get so hot you can't touch the rims!  I just had to change the brake shoes since they were all cracked.

I have a new booster and I'm running an aluminum master cyclinder, from
the mid 80's to the 90's mopar full size cars, trucks, vans.  I
installed a new proportioning valve last year, still the same problem.

I was in the middle of pulling the MC so I could back off the push rod a
little further with the hopes that this would possibly help with the
brake drag, when I got to looking at how close the HP manifold runs to
the MC.

Could the master cylinder heating up cause my brake drag problem?  I
know hyd fluid expands when it gets warm/hot so I thinking that maybe
this is my problem?  The brake drag doesn't start until after 10-20
minutes of driving, if it was a booster/MC adjustment issue they should
drag right out of the garage.

General Tech / Spray on Chrome...

Got this link from another board and thought I'd share it with you'ins.

I'm very impressed with this stuff and think it's a great solution to a lot of problems that we have with old pot metal parts and stuff on our cars.  I can think of 101 things it could be used for.

General BS and Laughs / Think I spotted someone....

...from the board.....Nice six pack dude!!

....and RAE stands for, Ruff Around Edges....

I just drove him home today from Kamloops...about a 3 1/2 hours from my place.  I went up a checked the it out last weekend, liked what I saw and bought it.

So without further ado....

It's a 84 Dodge Crewcab long box, D350 1ton.  Has a 89 Cummins with a 96 NV4500 and a set of 3:54 gears.  I drove 210miles and didn't even use 1/4 tank of fuel, and that was over the extreme mountain passes too boot!!

Lots of work to get it to where I want it but at least I can drive it, and enjoy it as I go.
