Snotty and I installed the new heater valve today.    We were willing to bet the farm that the heater core would leak when we hooked it up, but it passed the Snotty garden hose pressure test !   We couldn't believe it didn't leak.    Valve and heat work quite well.  Somebody must have disconnected it because they had the wrong valve in it.   Also, we straightened the deck lid which was raised on one side due to improperly adjusted hinge brackets.    I don't know what I'll do when Snotty leaves next month.    Who else will fix yer car for a double cheeseburger and a milkshake?

General Mopar Discussions / Newport with hood scoops

Kirk the brake guy said somebody ran the emergency brake cable over the frame, so every time the brake was applied, the frame was helping to cut the cable in two.   More work by Einsteins corrrected.

Took the Hurst to get the emergency brake cable replaced with one that's not in 2 pieces.   Some gangstas pulled up at the gas station and were impressed with the car, even to the point of taking pictures and shaking my hand.    Even the gangstas appreciate a fine ride.

There's a copper spacer or adapter supplied that you have to put on the clutch hole/ pump spindle.  It says "failure to do so may cause vibration and noise".

Snotty had a great suggestion for Mother Mopar.  If they had made the fan shroud in 2 pieces, then you could slide one side off and you wouldn't have to take the whole thing off to get the fan out.   But that would make sense, which is why it was skipped.  If the right 1" bolts were used, you could get the fan out without removing the fan shroud, just wiggle it around a bit.

The next assignment for Snotty is seeing if that heater valve will work .  Snotty thinks they may have disconnected the hoses cause the heater core leaks.   What a Mopar heater core leak?   Verrrrrrry unusual, right Snotty?   (See antifreeze on floor of 68 GTX, but Snotty fixed it) I hope the core doesn't leak and the valve does, but hey, who needs heat in Bako?

Well I got the 7 blade fan on Steve looks and works great !  Like a moron, I put the fan on and forgot to put the fan shroud on first cause I painted it.   Don't ya hate that when you get something on and then realize you have to take it off for something else?          The Einstein who put the 5 blade flex fan on had 2 1/2 " bolts holding it on the water pump.   You have to use 1" long 5/16 bolts though, cause that's the clearance between the clutch and the water pump holes.  Those long ones don't slide in that space.  Nice to have the proper fan and clutch installed now for proper cooling in this car.   It's hot here in the Bake (Snotty).
