Save your old sending unit lock ring. Most of the aftermarket ones don't lock down tight enough. Using two gaskets helps sometimes but the old ring is the way to go.

I wish I thought of it sooner to turn you on to the primer I'm now using. It's both an Epoxy direct to metal and very high build with absolutely no shrinkage. has saved me a lot of time and money by making the whole priming thing one step. It was developed by a local Hot rod builder out here. I resisted trying it for a long time because I thought it was too good to be true, one primer that had excellent adhesion to bare metal and great filling quality's. Well now I'm kicking myself in the butt for not using it sooner.

There're working on picking a color. It keeps changing though. Last I heard it was going to be a darker modern Blue with a lighter blue roof and accent color. They have to decide soon though because I'm about ready to start laying on the color.
