Tech- - Engine / Poly 354s anyone?

The motor should be silver. There are traces of it under the blue. Someone painted the motor somewhere in the past.

The intake was a temporary deal. It originally had a 2bbl intake.
I had bought the dualquad for my 392 Hemi but since that engine is still in the stand I thought it would look good on the 354 Poly for the time being.
But my McGyvered dualcarb direct linkage didn't work out properly as the engine had a tendency to backfire easily with this setup. So I put the original Hemi 4bbl intake on it later on.

I've got a 354 in my '57 Chrysler.
She's still using her factory stock pistons as received in '57, but still packs a good punch when asked...

Site Questions and Announcements / thinking of change software

I don't know what your monthly costs are at the moment but I know most of the website owners in the US seem willing to pay a lot of money for some kind of personal or dedicated webserver, while they only use 5% of it's capabilities.
A relatively small site as this doesn't need it's own server.

I run a lot of websites on my shared hosting reseller-account and it doesn't cost all that much.

So;
- Get shared hosting on a linux server
- install phpBB-forum software. It's free, easily customizable and has a very large userbase and an active group constantly working on improvements.

(Loose the windowsbased forums. Of all the forums I visit, only the Windowsbased ones are always seem less stable, are outdated, and work 'different' then the rest of world.)
Don't fall into the trap that thinking if you pay for forumsoftware that things like anti-spam are easier, they aren't.
Look at the Bangshift.com forum; They just moved to that paid vBulletin-forumstuff, but they are getting hammered with spam right now.

Spammers are a constant battle, better well accept that.
But on some of my forums I've turned off automatic registration for users, so I have to activate them myself by hand. But in 99% of the registations I can pick out the spammers by thier usernames alone so I delete them rightaway.

Tech- - Engine / Getting the RB 383 back

It was a dirty job but someone had to do it... lol

The starter on the 354 poly in my '57 Chrysler also cranks as slow as molasses. And because the fuel drains back and also evaporates out of the carb within a day or 2, it usually takes a good 30-40 seconds of cranking before it finally jumps to life again.
Then after pushing the Drive-button, it takes another 40 seconds before the transmission engages... lol
I've got a 392 Hemi in the works, and an A518 overdrive awaiting patiently for this car.

I would try different starters if you can get your hands on them, to see if one of them cranks faster.
Perhaps even open one up and check it's condition. Maybe slap some fresh grease on the bearings aswell.

Guys, guys...!
I thought it was fairly common sense to know that a Mopar starter bolts on/into the 'transmission'. The engine in front of it has nothing to do with the type of starter.

I don't know what's been done to the car earlier, but a castiron transmission will not accept a later style gearreduction or even an '80s ministarter starter. You're stuck with using the directdrive starter until you swap a '62-or newer 727 tranny in the car.

Did you also install a ground-cable from the motor to the firewall?
Also try out a modern gell-type battery from Exide or Optima for instance. These things usually have a bit more 'push' then the regular batteries.

Tech- - STEERING WHEELS AND SUSPENSION / Spindles & Bearings ?

Depending how you jacked up the car, the (full) force of the torsionbar suspension might still be on those 2 bolts right now. Better be carefull here.
You should also jack up the lower control arm near the balljoint a bit to take the tension off the bolts.

The rubber bumper in the upper control arm wants to pull the spindle-assembly up a bit, while the torsion bar pulls every thing down. Only the spindle bolts, and perhaps later on, the fully extended shock-absorber keeps all this stuff together.

Put a set of fully grooved mains in there to prolong the life of the stock rod bearings by giving them fulltime oiling. I would use a High volume oilpump aswell then.
