General Tech / Motor Trend Classic Photo Shoot
« on: September 13, 2011, 07:04:03 PM »

My 1965 Chrysler 300 Convertible will be featured in the upcoming issue of Motor Trend Classic Magazine due to hit newsstands sometime in November/early December.  Today was the photo shoot on location on the Boardwalk in Venice Beach, CA.

It was great show as usual. The swap meet was huge on Saturday and alot of show cars both days. A 66 Satelitte I painted took second in it's class on Sunday. I sold about a thousand dollars worth of parts over the two days so I'm happy. It was great to have lunch with Snotty and Jerry again. I also really enjoyed meeting Scott (AKA Rexus) and very impressed with his 65 300 'vert. I've always loved it in pictures but it looks even better in person. Great job Scott. After two weekends in a row of going out of town for car shows now it's time to get back to work and play catch up.

Thanks for the compliments Chris.  It was nice meeting you as well.

What a great day. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris (azblackhemi) who came over to introduce himself. Always nice to put a face to a username. The absolute highlight of the day for me was seeing Jay Leno's '63 Chrysler Turbine AND hear it run. What a cool car. The day wrapped up with my '65 'vert winning its Class: 300 and 300 Letter Series Cars. I was very surprised to have won the class competing with so many extremely nice, high dollar Letter Cars. I still can't believe it! Check out the link below for pics of some of the cars from the show.

Forward Looks cars to the really OLD public, like me, maybe, but otherwise it's all about muscle Mopars at car shows, as far as I can tell.

I disagree.  I'm 39 and the Forward Look 300's define Chrysler and IMO put them on the map.  Most people that see those cars recognize them as Chryslers.  I'd rather have a 300C or 300F over any A/B/E Body.

That was OK, but I guess Chrysler did not make a nice car after 1960?  They could not have tossed in a '65 or a nice Formal?  What about the hottest-selling Chrysler of the '70s- the Cordoba?  What about the Fifth Avenue who's sales remained so good they kept it going, unaltered, all the way to '89 when it was due to be cancelled after '84?  These were all good-looking cars.

I don't think it was narrow thinking.  To the general public, the Forward Look Cars are more recognizably "Chrysler" than the Fuseys or Slab Sides.  Most CAR people at CAR SHOWS think my '65 300 'vert is anything but a Chrysler!

True, you have to determine if it makes sence for you.  Just Dashes can't charge less for a dash resto for a 60's C Body vs. one for a '70 Hemi Cuda.  Restoring a dash is restoring a dash; the car is irrelevant to them.  IMO, they did a great job on all my stuff and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.  To me, the interior/dash is the most important part of the resto becasue that is all you are looking at when you drive.  Nothing worse that constantly looking at something thinking "I shoulda".

They do good work, but hold on to your wallet... they want over $1000
to do my F3 dash... not gonna happen! Not a place to go to if you need
to find solutions within a budget

True, they aren't cheap but you definitely get what you pay for.

I think you could send them to Just Dashes and they can recover them so they look new..

X2 on Just Dashes.  They dyed all the fiberglass and plastic pieces on my interior and they did a heck of a job matching all the colors.

Stop!  You're making me blush.
