I'm not usually a fan of modern wheels either, but I think those work.  The key is that the overall diameter is pretty close to stock, and they are tucked into the wheelwells like stock.  There's a 63 or 64 New Yorker around here with a similar setup that has grown on me over the last few years.

It's getting better as the week goes on, but Monday morning the temp dropped a couple of degrees below zero.  I actually had to crank the Dart twice to start it. ;)

Snotty, if it makes you feel better, we're back to normal and it was 14 degrees the other morning.

I was surprised to see you mention the heater, until I looked at the forecast.  Are those temps typical or are you guys having a cold spell?

I've put 15,000 miles on the car since changing the heads, and everything seems to be working well.  :)

Spartan Motors which makes fire engines and motor home chassis was started by a group of former REO engineers after they shut down here.

A couple of the local repair shops here have restored 1940's REO tow trucks for parades and such

Obviously pulling the tank and getting it cleaned is the ideal solution, but this may get you down the road for a while.

Was the Edsel like rear trim an option?  Some seem to just have a straight chrome piece the whole length of the car.  Some seem to have the "Dartline" trim which adds more on the front fender/door, and some are like this one.

Steve, it's not just you.  My garage is just big enough for the Dart, but unless I moved all the shelving on the back wall the Chrysler is too long.

It's running.    Still no alternator, and it's got a heck of an exhaust leak where the pipe bolts to the pass side manifold, but I ran it 3-4 miles this evening and it is much, much smoother.  Was getting a funky reading from the timing light, so just set it by ear for now.  21 inches of vacuum at idle.   Might be burning a little oil on the drivers side, or just might be crud in the system.  Once I get everything else sorted out, going to run some seafoam through it.
