Tech- - DRIVE TRAIN / Rear end assembly swap - what else fits ?
« on: April 27, 2009, 08:16:18 AM »
I'm looking for complete rear end assembly that will fit under my 58 Plymouth Fury.
I can modify spring perches, etc... but need to know:

1.) The total-overall width from hub to hub
2.) Are there newer rear end assemblys (hub-to-hub) that will fit ?

Thanks for any info.
Mike

General Tech / Axle swap on 58 Plymouth - need suggestions.
« on: April 24, 2009, 06:50:15 PM »

Does anyone know of a Dana or 8.75 axle assembly from 60's or 70's Mopar that has the same width as teh 58 Plymouth ?

Has anyone made this conversion ?

What are my options for moving away from the pressed-in / tapered axles ?

Will I have to keep the axle assembly tube, etc.. and get new axles shafts made ?

Thanks for any info

General Tech / Pics of 58 Plymouth data tag and decode please
« on: March 09, 2009, 07:20:47 PM »
I would like to learn the data tag decode process and I keep hearing about the data tag being located on the passenger side of firewall and some are finding theirs on the driver's side, could someone post a picture of an engine compartment that shows the data tag (NOT BODY NUMBER TAG) ?

Also, could someone post a picture of a 58 plymouth data tag and then decode the numbers ?

Thanks for any help !

General Tech / 200 MPH Speedo in 58 Plymouth Fury ???
« on: March 09, 2009, 03:33:04 PM »

The previous owner does not know much about it other than it had the big engine with 2 four barrel carbs. She said it was built for the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) that sounded
fishy to me, but I bought the car regardless because it was in good shape to restore.
Police - NASCAR racing - Export to Canada (any documented proof that they were sent with KPH spedos)?

This is a 3-speed colum shift, AC delete, Defrost holes on top of dash have factory block-off plates never removed...

Car has been painted 3 times:
Bottom coat is White-done right, still some showing under rear seat and under some interior trim,etc..
Metallic Blue-done right...some under glass rubber, door hinges, doors, etc..
Red-most recent and a terrible job
