I was near a Wrecking yard so I stopped in and for $20 I got an air breather off a V6 Dakota..

Until I can come up with some tubes that will get it closer to colder air I thought I'd try this..

I think it looks pretty neat and the air breather doesn't get heat soaked like the steel one did in the heat...

I did a very un-mopar think yesterday.. I put traction bars on my Windsor.. 

The wrap up on the springs was getting really bad and I want to go out to the track a couple times this spring and don't want to break anything..

They really seem to help... I would love to have the cash for new springs or some Caltracs but these 30 year old bars kept staring at me saying " put me on the Windsor before you break a spring" so I did it..

I looked underneath and it would be a pain to use a pinion snubber of the 8 3/4 cause the floor is so far up at the axle then what was on my F body...

I ask all of you to forgive me for this terrible deed....

OK.. I have reinstalled the intake cause it leaked and fouled the plugs... but it still has an intermittent pop as I drive...

It has new plugs, new points, new cap and rotor...   WTF could be making this pop..

You can hear it in the muffler as you drive.. like a little misfire.. Under acceleration there is no pop..

OK.. I have had a problem with one plug fouling because of a leaky intake..

Well the weather was nice and I wanted to get it fixed before I had my hernia surgery this Tuesday since I won't be able to lift of lean over the Windsor to fix it for about 4 weeks..

I pulled the intake, pulled the valley pan.. cleaned everything ( noticed the heat crossover was leaking under the valley pan).. and reinstalled everything.

This time I used a thick paper gasket ( about a 1/4 inch) under the carb to keep the holley cooler than just using the thin paper gasket.

Before the fix I had 16 in vaccum at idle now I have 14... I adjusted the idle circuit  to the highest vacuum reading..

WTH? It can't be leaking I cleaned every surface and it looked like new when I installed it...!!!

I put gasket sealer on the paper gasket before I installed the carb to minimize the chance of a  leak...

The car runs much better... it doesn't smell like exhaust under the hood ( which would have been the leaky crossover). Before the fix it would pop once and a while ( I assume oil leaking in one of the cylinders).. now it's smooth sailing..

Should I worry about it that the vacuum reading is less?

I know Steve made a fresh air/ram air set-up for his car.. has anyone else done this? Do you have any pics? Is it worth the trouble?

I know it gets F-ing hot under the hood of the Windsor and it is stuck sucking all that hot air.. I think getting some cold air in there would help a ton on my old girl...

What would be a good aftermarket cam choice for the 361 in my Windsor.. currently I have a 383 magnum cam in the 361.. but I bet a modern cam would work much better.

The car is street driven.. will probably get 3.23 gears and stock converter..

The was a little puddle of fuel in the intake under the accelerator pump area and the secondary throttle shaft is wet...

Since I have to change the accelerator pump gasket.. should I just do a rebuild?

This year I would like to make the following changes.

1 inch 4 hole spacer on the M-1 Intake. 

HP manifolds swap from logs ( which I get cheap for the NOS tips I found for my friends original 6 pack fury )

3.23 gear from the 2.76 gear.

Possible swap from point dizzy to electronic with better curve.

Possible shift kit..

Looking for 15.99 this year so i need to find 4 tenths.. I don't know if I will put up this much from the changes I plan..
