General Tech / Gonna do it.
« on: April 30, 2012, 03:41:28 AM »
I have been talking with my mopar buddies and I think Eileen is gonna get a 360 magnum conversion with overdrive tranny. The wrecking yards are full of these and these truck rotted off the face of the planet so finding a donor shouldn't be that hard.

Now I have been also thinking about swapping the 8 3/4 for the truck rear too. That would get me the 3.55 gear. I haven't measured but it really can't be that far off since the 65 is pretty wide. I'm gonna measure the rear in my 98 and see how close we are. What is the measurement on the C-body 8 3/4?

I suppose I HAVE to use the truck computer in order to properly run the tranny right?

Any idea on a header to use.. maybe a Dakota shortie header?

General Mopar Discussions / Frame Connectors
« on: April 04, 2012, 08:03:26 AM »
Does anyone here have frame connectors on their C... could someone snap a pic for me?

I remember when I put connectors in my Big Block Aspen it took out a lot of the creaks and moans... I thought maybe it is time for Eileen to get some connectors...

Tech- - FUEL / Fuel Injection
« on: March 21, 2012, 07:14:48 AM »

I'm seriously thinking about doing the swap Polaraco did on Eileen.

Donor vehicles are getting more common around here...

But first.... Would there be any way to adapt the Magnum 360 Fuel Injection on to the 361 I have. I know it will need injector mounts welded onto the intake and an adapter to make the throttle body mount in place of the 4 barrel... but what about triggering the ignition or firing order.. etc.

I have been thinking about this for a while or is it just cheaper to buy the new Holley Fuel injection system..  I could install a magnum 360 for less than that and get the overdrive tranny too..

Tech- -BODY / 1/4 Panels
« on: March 21, 2012, 07:09:50 AM »
I'm slowly making plans for paint..

Personally I hate the removable cover over the wheels.. They never line up right and are a pain.

What I was thinking.. maybe I could graft on a wheel lip from a more common 1/4 that would eliminate the wheel skirts ( or whatever they are called). Basically replace the area around the wheel ( like the common truck bed side rust repair )

Any suggestion on a model to get something from? I do like the rear quarters from a 65 Sport Fury but those panels are not very common.

Is there anything I can do for the trunk extension from the trunk pan to the bottom of the 1/4? Could another model ( like a B body) part be made to worK.

General Tech / 16 Inch Rims

Are there any factory 16 inch rims that would fit on my Windsor?  I think the Ram truck has a different bolt pattern.

General Mopar Discussions / 5.2 misfire..
« on: July 29, 2011, 03:41:30 PM »
I had the check engine light come on while I was idling in a parade and again last week. It goes away after about 50 miles.

I went into a parts store and had them read the codes. It said i had a misfire in #7 cylinder..

Since I already put in plugs and wire.. I bought a cap and rotor.

The rotor was very worn in comparison to the new one. Also one corner of the end rotor was burned and indented.. the entire end had a white substance up both side from the end towards the middle.

All the terminals in the cap had a white substance on them..

I assume they are original since the wire and cap where original before I changed them a month ago. 85 000 miles

I am think of spark scatter or an arc jumping the gap making the burnt part on the end of the rotor..

I don't know how well you can see this pic but here is the rotor..

General Mopar Discussions / Stupid Sebring
« on: June 08, 2011, 03:58:23 AM »
Last September I had to put a wheel bearing in my 1997 Sebring... 40 000 k ( 25 000 miles) I had to replace it again... grrrrrr...

It's not a press in either.. you have to buy the whole assembly... GRRRR

The car has 112 000 miles on it but wow.. you would think I could get more than 25 000 miles out of a replacement unit...

General BS and Laughs / What's wrong with people...
« on: June 05, 2011, 03:12:50 PM »
I was outside starting a fire in the pit for the kids to cook marshmallows on when I hear an animal crying..

I finally tracked it down to my trailer full of steel I was gonna take for scrap.

In there was a little kitten...only about a week old.. I had to feed it with a syringe.

The worse thing was this cat knows people and is plump so it did have a home somewhere..!!

General Mopar Discussions / WTF!!!!!
« on: June 03, 2011, 04:27:00 PM »
I was going to change the plugs on our 1998 Dodge pickup with a 5.2 magnum...

It turns out the plug and wires are original and so are the STUPID METAL SHIELDS AROUND THE PLUG BOOTS...

You can't get a socket on it.. and they won't come out..

My buddy says I can try to use penetrating oil on them for a couple days to free them up or break them off and grind down a socket to fit inside what it left..

General Mopar Discussions / How Fast will it Go..
« on: June 01, 2011, 03:41:26 AM »

This weekend is Mopar Day at St. Thomas Raceway Park on June 11.

In October the car ran 16.49 @ 86. Since then I added an H-pipe,traction bars ,1/2 in paper insulator under the carb and a K&N filter..

The weather is supposed to be 73 and sunny.

Any guesses on what it might run.

Then on June 12th I will be racing my buddies 12 second 1971 Demon.. woo hoo...
