Hey CBarge, looks great.  Do you cut off the extra threads on the u bolts? Seems like they would get in the way...of what I don't know.

Tech- - ELECTRICAL / Passenger windows on '68 Sport Fury

Howdy all,
 
One of the priorities or last to do items on my list is to fix the electric quarter windows on my fastback.  Both are dead.
 
I'm assuming the motors are seized from inactivity, but... 
 
I've seen references to motor interchangeability over the past couple of years, but never printed them off of the other sites.  Does anyone have any info?  I seem to remember that the motors from an '85 lebaron were compatible.
 
Also there were threads about the exchange process that might save one's fingers.
 
Does anyone have those in a file? Any other hints to try?

Ha! No, i did have a few jack stands around before buying this set, I've never had a creeper or a rolling floor jack.

Can't believe I waited so long!

I saved the strap this time.  It may not compress the shaft enough, if not, I've got the 3/8 nylon rope waiting to go.  Doing the other side this weekend.
 
off topic, I bought a craftsman roller jack/creeper/jackstand set and I am no longer a dirt back primate using whatever screw jack I can scrounge!  I know- what in the heck took me so long?  Money went into parts not comfort items.  But I'm getting there.  Air tools are next on the list.

quick question on removing the front drums, can they be beaten off with a hammer, alternating strike points or do I need a puller?

That's an oddity, my old shock  plunger retracted into the body, the KYB ejects the rod. 
 
If it retracted I'd have another dilemma of trying to capture the top threads.
 
I'll try a wire to hold the compression then go with Snotty's steps.  oy!

It's a 1968 fastback.  I want to keep the rear skirts but also want to go up in tire size too.

General Tech / Torque Thrust II's on a Sport Fury

I know, two posts in one night...in a year!  I've been looking for new tires and have given up on the 8x14's.  I've looked and looked for the past two years and I've decided on the AR TT II's.  15x8's would be a little bigger than OEM steel, but I'm asking if anyone has put these on their C or even a Sport Fury?
 
Million dollar question, will they fit over the drums?  If not, how big would I need to go.  I don't want wagon wheels.  Also not certain how they'd look with the drum vs. discs.  May look to swap out in the future.  I need rubber on the ground!  The Bias ply's on it are OEM and weather checked and cracked like you wouldn't believe (ok 41 years old...you'd believe and the valve stems are rotting on two.

Ok, so I bought some KYB's for the 68 SF.  I've got the rears on no sweat, I took off the Lt front and after debating , I cut the retaining strap and put on the inner/ lower washer and bushing.  The OEM set up had a inner bushing sleeve in the  one piece bushing-bumper, I don't see a replacement nor is it indicated in the pictograph instructions.  (hate those btw) is that sleeve necessary?  it doesn't appear to fit.
 
Is there a trick to keeping the new shock compressed while one inserts/ threads it into place?  Thing is tougher than I am.  After 6 attempts of compressing the shaft against the frame and not being quick enough to position it(the entire time being eaten by mosquitos) I said enough for the night.  I'll try again tomorrow.
