MEMBERS Project Cars in Progress / Guess who's been driven?
« on: August 15, 2008, 08:49:01 PM »

Oh yeah!  Take a peek...as seen from the INSIDE of where I work, taken last Friday

Here's a better shot, outside

My co-worker, Juliegh, parked on my left to help portect Chaz from getting any door dings.  She's cool, had a Camaro as her first car and got to work on it with her father, so she appreciates cars, and if one couldn't tell from her license plate, she's a HUGE Disney fan.  LOVES going to Disneyland when ever possible, has been to DisneyWorld and EuroDisneyland, too.

Anyway, I took a shot of the car that night, and while it was a little blurry due to my not being able to hold it steady while the aperture was open, I think it's kinda cool, in a nighttime fair ride kinda way.

I also have electronic ignition installed, which will later get tucked onto a bracket that will mount on the rear valley pan rail, but in the mean time it will stay here.

I just got the car back today from a recommended shop that replaced the starter relay for me (I know I could have done it, but it's been over 105 freakin' degrees the past 2 days here! Gimme a break! ) and also did some
finer adjustments to the carb for the fast idle, and made sure the
timing was good , and it was adjusted to 11 BTDC (instead of the 5 BTDC for CAP
car, which is FINE with me), with 36 degrees total.

They also found my #5 cylinder is running at  a lower compression than everything else, and hopefully it's just a build-up of carbon.  I'll get an oil change done, maybe add some Marvel Mystery Oil to the case, and a bottle of Techroline to the tank and do a road trip (Hmmmmmmmm...Scotty???)

Oh, I saw this just don the street from the shop, and figured it was a cool thing (a visual pun, if you will)

I gotta say, the car runs almost perfect right now, with a barely perceptible stumble from said #5 cylinder, and now that the alternator has been upgraded to a 60A unit, since the 45A unit was toast, I'm a lot more comfortable about driving it.  Heck, I cruised around for the better part of an hour tonight after I finished my workout, since it was a beautiful summer night with a full moon!

I even listend to the radio, both AM and the FM Tuner that I added

Damn, but the car looks good...now I've got to see about gettin' the Vectors thrown on him

General BS and Laughs / How would the Joisey Mob handle this?
« on: July 19, 2008, 05:26:06 PM »
I had made arrangements for a larger storage space at another new franchise location "down the road a piece" from me, since Chaz will be coming "home" soon-ish.  I paid for 6 months for an enclosed 13'x25' unit (basically for a small RV) on July 1, and dropped off some stuff the shop no longer needed (nor wanted to have around), to wit;
the tilt-telescoping column assembly, 14" spare tire and wheel, two wheel covers, the unused '73 brake booster, the original drum m/c and booster assembly, both halves of a grille (the damaged pieces), the original AFB from Chaz now that the Edelbrock piece is in its place, a repop Year One hp passenger side exhaust manifold, and other stuff I can't remember.

I planned on moving out of the 10'x15' unit I've been using for about 2 year at the end of this month, and so today I loaded up a few things and went to the newer facility to drop them off.

I backed up to the enclosed unit, and when I got out, saw there was NO LOCK!  And yes, what stuff I had unloaded over 2 weeks earlier was gone too.

Obviously the storage facility has no liability, per their contract , but I was informed there was still some construction going on until a few weeks ago, so I'm sure someone who was sub-contracted for whatever construction that was occurring might have decided to "take a peek" into my storage place, having bolt-cutters handy or maybe a lock-pick set, and helped themselves.

While there ARE cameras, they do not have any recordings.  I'm pooched, basically.

SO, I checked out of said unit, got a credit slip for the full amount I paid, and went back to the smaller unit location, and since the quarterly rent is due at the end of the month, I gave it to them, paying for 6 months and having a little credit towards another quarter, and reloaded what I had in the Nissan BACK into the smaller space.

  That's about how  feel today.

MEMBERS Project Cars in Progress / Happy 4th of July! ROAD TRIP!!!
« on: July 03, 2008, 08:24:01 PM »
And I'm taking Chaz!  I'm going to visit some relatives in Grass Valley and see the parade in Nevada City   It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive.

He got an alignment yesterday, and I gotta tell y'all, those 1.12" Firm Feel bars WORK!  Very comfortable ride, hardly any float at all, the brakes work like a charm, and those are all GOOD THINGS. Heck, I even fixed my fubar from when I swapped out my radio and got the A/C back in action!

The bad; I found out my headlamps are wonky, with the left low beam burning out tonight, and the low-beams outta alignment (I had the lamps inspected/adjusted in March 2006, so either I got water in them recently or the crappy lamps from my parts grille were installed), the turn signal indicators on the fenders are not hooked up/MIA, I'm getting feedback through the map light too, and the new antenna is a little loose, and still no reception from the radio even though it IS working and the fader switch is too.

No night driving, obviously.  I also did get a jumper from the alternator output to the starter relay to take some of the load of the fusible link going into the ammeter in the dash, and I think I will do like the factory did and upgrade that connection to a buss bar at the bulkhead connector.

Anyhoo, y'all take care...hope the Canadian contingent survived Canada Day too

General Tech- - BRAKES / "over-boost" from new booster?
« on: June 18, 2008, 02:15:08 PM »
Can a new/reman booster provide an over-boost condition, where the front brakes are REALLY sensitive to brake pedal input??

WooooHooo!!!!  I just happened to be taking pics of the recent progress when the windshield finally arrived.

Those glass guys were quick, too. Less than 10 minutes from bringing it in and prepoing it to having it fully installed

« on: June 01, 2008, 03:58:17 PM »

Funny, it doesn't look like the one I was expecting to see;

But if it functions the same, I'm not going to complain about it.  This is  what is installed

The rear half still needs to be bled, and the new front lines had to be tweaked a little bit to work, I was told, but they are in.

Oh, and I finally got better shots of the rear bumper...it looks SO good, like Quicksilver.

Oh man...if ever there was a "money shot", THIS is it.

Licensed, tagged, insured....SO close to being able to drive it, even without the engine, transmission and rear axle upgrades...and the updated "to do list"
