General BS and Laughs / Rail Road Bridges Forgotten Icons
« on: January 13, 2009, 10:26:07 AM »
My Father says he use to get to ride once and awhile on the big beasts N&W put out in Virginia.  His grandfather was an engineer (not driver kind) for them.  He lived in Victoria.  He has a book on the rail road and man did they put out some heavy iron horse's.  Who knows what the the N&W stand for?   Bonus points if you can tell the two biggest things N&W was known for.

I'll bet he's out of Little Creek.  My grand parents use to live up in Norfolk, gramp and father are retired Navy.   It was awsome as a young boy when we'd visit and you'd see all the ships, planes and now and again a sub.
Actually saw them doing landings one winter on the beach and thought no way man.  It's to dang cold to be gettin in water.

Post and wish everyone here a Happy and wonderful New Year.  Here's hopin I'll have more time too for posting, working on Kaw Liga and have fun with everyone hear this year.

Whew!  This year has finished up pretty busy for me and the family.  We moved back into the house Thanksgiving week.  Moved basic needs stuff out of storage the following week. Then had to put up Christmas decorations per requests from the wife, kids and my neighbors. (Clark Grizzwald would be proud)  Of course we still had to set up the house and still have several things in storage. So work work work, hello boys miss me.  I've missed you? (Blazing Saddles)   WIfe and kids only worry when the mule goes down.  The wife then drops the bomb on me her brother and his wife will be visiting for a few days.   We also held Christmas eve dinner and Christmas day dinner at the house.  Well thought we were all done then guess what, wife lets me know her sister and her husband are comin on down for a visit.  Up side they have rented a place.  Down side 3 month visit.

All in all though it's been good and glad we have family for visiting.

My hope is in the next month to have the house all set and be able to get back to puttin the barge on the road again.

So to sum up again Happy New year to all and best of wishes for a great new year.

So I'm going to add that to Kaw Liga.  What wood should I use, Oak, Maple, Pine other?  Where it meets the trunk lid do I use bondo or wood putty our 50/50 mixture of each?    Ideas on welding or should I go with screws which opens up a whole new can of worms.

Well good morning all.  As you see I couldn't sleep so I was lurking around the net.  I got a P.M. asking if I was still alive so I figured I'd better post.    Not to get all mushy but it is kind of a nice warm feeling to have someone ask how it's goin.

As most know we are remodeling the house.  This has kept me busy to the point it's a 2nd job.  We should be done with the major stuff and back in this Friday.  I'm hoping in the next moth or so to be done with everything and able to get back to work on Kaw Liga and back to posting here so's to see what not to do to mess her up.  I will say I've missed talking with everyone here look forward to getting back in the mix shortly.

General BS and Laughs / This is an awsome group.
« on: August 29, 2008, 12:33:55 AM »
The drinking is part of what makes it such a good group.
As for looks and drinking.  I saw a story on the news the other day where a college actually spent money and time to study this effect.   You will never guess what they discovered.   Drinking will cause others to look better to the drinker.  SHOCKING I discovery I say.
Commando when I get Kaw-Liga back on the road maybe we can meet at Orlando's old town one Friday when they are doing the car show.  I love going to that and have dreamed of showing off my battle ship at it one day.  I've yet to see a 300 at it.

Once again this site and group prove to be great.    As he told me he would Mopar Matt graciously sent me some parts for the AFB on Kaw-Liga.  I can not wait for the house remodel to be over now so I can work on the car again.
Thank you Matt.

General BS and Laughs / College football smack talk!
« on: August 21, 2008, 06:19:10 AM »
No Girlie men here.   They can't fix a car.  Wait I have trouble with that.

I do agree with the commercialism and stuff.  I watch but it has been getting harder over the last few years.  Having played in High School and College I haven't been able to tear myself away yet but it's getting closer.

As for the Pro's ,  Go Buccaneers!

On NASCAR  when they go back to you buy it you race it I'll get into it.  I do watch a little because just bout everyone I know's into it and just to make conversation.  Ya'll know us southern boys.

College football season is starting soon so I thought I'd throw this out for the group. You may only post in this thread if your college football team is undefeated.  So right now everyone can post.   As long as they are winning you can brag, gloat and talk smack about how much better they are than all the others.   If your team loses your done.  No more, nada, zero zilch posts on this thread.   This is to be good natured fun and ribbing.
You are only allowed one team.

To kick things off for example the Gator fans will be out after week two as the Hurricanes are going to their 2nd home Canesville and will be cleaning out the swamp.

Just had a thought.  May I suggest you hold a seminar on the finer points, proper use and where to harvest coranthian leather.
