General BS and Laughs / May I be the 1st to
« on: December 31, 2008, 07:36:40 AM »
Post and wish everyone here a Happy and wonderful New Year.  Here's hopin I'll have more time too for posting, working on Kaw Liga and have fun with everyone hear this year.

Whew!  This year has finished up pretty busy for me and the family.  We moved back into the house Thanksgiving week.  Moved basic needs stuff out of storage the following week. Then had to put up Christmas decorations per requests from the wife, kids and my neighbors. (Clark Grizzwald would be proud)  Of course we still had to set up the house and still have several things in storage. So work work work, hello boys miss me.  I've missed you? (Blazing Saddles)   WIfe and kids only worry when the mule goes down.  The wife then drops the bomb on me her brother and his wife will be visiting for a few days.   We also held Christmas eve dinner and Christmas day dinner at the house.  Well thought we were all done then guess what, wife lets me know her sister and her husband are comin on down for a visit.  Up side they have rented a place.  Down side 3 month visit.

All in all though it's been good and glad we have family for visiting.

My hope is in the next month to have the house all set and be able to get back to puttin the barge on the road again.

So to sum up again Happy New year to all and best of wishes for a great new year.

Well good morning all.  As you see I couldn't sleep so I was lurking around the net.  I got a P.M. asking if I was still alive so I figured I'd better post.    Not to get all mushy but it is kind of a nice warm feeling to have someone ask how it's goin.

As most know we are remodeling the house.  This has kept me busy to the point it's a 2nd job.  We should be done with the major stuff and back in this Friday.  I'm hoping in the next moth or so to be done with everything and able to get back to work on Kaw Liga and back to posting here so's to see what not to do to mess her up.  I will say I've missed talking with everyone here look forward to getting back in the mix shortly.

General BS and Laughs / College football smack talk!
« on: August 20, 2008, 08:47:38 AM »
College football season is starting soon so I thought I'd throw this out for the group. You may only post in this thread if your college football team is undefeated.  So right now everyone can post.   As long as they are winning you can brag, gloat and talk smack about how much better they are than all the others.   If your team loses your done.  No more, nada, zero zilch posts on this thread.   This is to be good natured fun and ribbing.
You are only allowed one team.

To kick things off for example the Gator fans will be out after week two as the Hurricanes are going to their 2nd home Canesville and will be cleaning out the swamp.

General BS and Laughs / Builders. Ya gotta love them.
« on: August 02, 2008, 12:31:59 AM »
As you know from my other post we're having some renovations done to the old homestead.  One of the things is the demo and moving of the kitchen.  The guy asks me the other day would I mind if rather than having to carry the stuff out the back and around to the dumpster in the front could they just go through the garage.  This as you know is where Kaw-Liga is parked.  Oh I forgot ta tell ya'll it's a one car garage, well one for a modern small car.  So as you can imagine not a lot of room to be carrying boards and stuff with exposed screws and nails.  My response was are you nuts.   I can see it now,  ooops.  Sorry Tom we scratched the side a bit.  We'll pay to have MACCO fix her up.

General BS and Laughs / Life is funny.

So I've grown up in Florida. Use to afternoon rain in the summer.   It is very rare to get rain in the morning here unless a hurricane or tropical storm is blowing in.  It is unheard of to get rain in the morning two days in a row again unless said storm is out in the Gulf.

The wife and I just had a remodeling job started on the house Tuesday.  Rained came down in buckets not less than 15 mins after the guys started.  Lucky for us it only lasted about 20 mins and everyone was able to get back to work.

Funny thing is the same thing happened yesterday and today it's been off and on all morning.   I guess it's better in the morning than afternoon when they'd pack up and head home.  Anyway the forcast for tomorrow is 60% chance morning showers.

Tech- - FUEL / New development
« on: June 02, 2008, 05:12:24 AM »
The last few times I've run the engine a new issues has developed.  When I hit the gas pedal or advance the throttle lever to rev the engine she hesitates and almost stalls out.  It has back fired in the carb a couple of times too but not a lot.  Ideas.

Thanks

Tech- -BODY / Bronze roof paint.
« on: June 02, 2008, 05:04:58 AM »
So anyone know what kind of paint they used on these old cars for the Bronze roof.  I used the meauires paint cleaner then polish then wax and it came out pretty good.   Two issues though.  When cleaning it made a light black haze here and there.  You really have to look hard but can see a few marks.  The other thing is somehow I have what apper to be water spots which will not come out.   Any ideas?

Thanks
Tom

General Mopar Discussions / Keeping a car original
« on: May 27, 2008, 06:01:27 AM »
As may of you know the brakes on my car are a mess.  Many here have suggested going to a double  master rather than the single it has now.   After reading here and a few mags I'm also thinking of having it converted to disc brake.   My question is what will this do to it's value as a collectors car?  Safety is the foremost issue but I'd hate to do this and find out I runined the car.    I'm going to have a shop do the work to repair them.

Tech- -BODY / Wax on, Wax off.
« on: May 27, 2008, 05:47:05 AM »
I looked all over here and didn't see it posted anywhere so I figured I'd ask.  I may change my name from Chrysler300 to Capt. Question.

What wax do you guys recommend for these older cars?   Mine has the original paint and I've heard you want to be careful with what you put on.  I also heard a good way to muck it up real quick is use a buffer even if you know how to work one.

On the chrome I've used mothers chrome wax and man it is unreal in how it cleans up the bling.

Thanks.

Tech- - Engine / Radiator and engine temp
« on: May 23, 2008, 12:51:33 AM »
This started in the feeling hosed post.  Some felt a new one on this topic would be good.

When running the hose from my engine to the rad is easy to squeeze shut.    I'm told it should have some puressure in it.    I think I found the problem and need a new rad cap.

However it prompted these question in my mind.

If this is not working right should or will the temp light come on?

I read the tech manual and it appears the temp guage is working correctly. When I go to start the engine the red light pops on for a second then off as the manual says it should, then the green cold light till it heats up.  Hot never comes on.

Also if it has no pressure does it mean the system is not circulating and cooling?

If its the stat it looks like a pretty simple repair, new gasket and stat.

I noticed a slow leak at the base of the larger steering hose where it goes into the gear.  The hose looks good and it's just at the base where it slides over the nipple.   Lots of questions.

Should I just replace the current ring clamp with a screw down type or replace the hose?

On the hose is there one made for this with the bends in it or do I just get a hose and the way it fits in they will occur naturally?

I fiugre when I take this off I'll lose the fluid in the system.  What  power steering fluid should I replace this with?

Lastly is this an item where I need to bleed the system?

Thanks

General Mopar Discussions / Wooo Hoooo
« on: May 08, 2008, 05:12:54 AM »
I may have made a big find on my car.   I was reading on another site about broadcast sheets for these old cars.  It also said it's a pretty big deal to find these.  Suggested they might be found in various spots on the car one being under the drivers seat in the springs.
I ran out and felt under the drivers seat.  Sure enough up in the springs is paper.  Pulled very very gently but it would not come out so I stopped.  When I can take the seat out I'll see what it is.   If it is the broadcast sheet I'll have the window sticker, bill of sale and now this to display when I start showing her off.

General BS and Laughs / Man! Every things breaking on me.
« on: May 06, 2008, 01:21:50 PM »
So I got my new tooth today.  Old one cracked and had to be capped.

Came home to work on the car and the shop light broke.   I did have the tools and equipment to fix it however.   Old coat hanger, tin snips and pliers.  Good to go.

I think I'll tackle the carb now.
