The '54 Plymouth Belmont is in for new driver's door hinge pins and some minor repairs. The tiny cardboard door panel had 21 clips(!) holding it to the fiberglass door.
This is an impressive car in person.

Isn't this the prettiest Polysphere you've ever seen?

Go to the link and use your mouse to drag and drop the pieces until you find those that fit together. When they are placed close they knit into a larger part. You can move pieces around if they are in your way.

General Mopar Discussions / Fill and Scrap: Death Of A Valiant
« on: October 05, 2008, 07:53:45 PM »

sequel to Slice And Dice Death Of a 62 Newport....

This was a 1964 Valiant former Bell Telephone company car. 170 slant 6 and pushbutton auto, it was given to me after the resto shop raided it for it's trim. A customer had a 64 'vert that had been given a $90,000 restoration (!!!!) on it years ago and the owner's wife stuffed it into a snowbank (!!!!). I was going to use it to convert my wagon into a 2 door but the doors proved to be too far gone. As were the floors, trunk and 1/4's....

Now it's got about a ton of steel piled in it ( I struck the rear window several times with my 5lb sledge and it bounced off! I ended up cutting the gasket and tossing the glass whole into the interior....still hasn't broken!)
Theres a 9 foot long roller conveyor and a full size Lincoln floorjack in there, a 1957 Cad Coupe DeVille roof sliced in two, oil drum carts, Chevelle gas tank,  2 front axles from  1924 Packards, brake drums and 2 Ford big block intakes....all very heavy!

Removing the pushbutton trans controls is hard when the driver's door won't open, but easier with an air chisel!
Air chisel made short work of the side and vent window glass too!

Front brakes on the car were frozen, so out came the 5lb sledge and the remains of the broken drums were tossed in the car

Alas, this one proved fatal to the beloved 5lb sledge....

General BS and Laughs / MOVING DAY!
« on: September 21, 2008, 04:49:31 PM »
No pics....sorry we wuz bizzy.... but Steve did me a great favor today and made 2 trips with his Ram and trailer, driving back & forth from my Joisey shop to my Pennsy house to bring home my Cordoba and my Dakota 'vert. It was a lot of work and over 160 miles and I appreciate it deeply.

I needed to clear my shop of unregistered cars because the town sent a code violation letter.
I'm almost there, having junked a few carcasses and a couple more to go. The rest should be exempt, being either for sale,  customer's cars, or will be covered nicely and put behind a fence for safe keeping. Brought home scads of full garbage bags too.

Why someone can't   keep 19 cars in their front yard is beyond me....

Now I gotta fix 2 rusted out fluid lines on the Dakota....both burst as we were loading the truck on the trailer (one brake line and one trans cooler line )......perfect timing!

As I approached my shop today, I saw what appeared to be a car on a trailer jammed in between Steve's trailer and my junk Dakota I'm stripping. I got mad because there was no room for a trailer there.....imagine my surprise when I got was a car, but there was no trailer.......

This used to be a 1975+ Monte now has 325/35 R 28 120 V tires on it.
It has a neon green vinyl interior now including dash....NO, I DIDN'T DO IT!!!!!

The guy's other car is a Tangerine metalflake Lamborghini Gallardo......go figure

Maybe a need for attention........

First plug in your air chisel.....

When someone says their 1962 Chrysler Newport (or similar car) is restorable, do you think they checked the roof structure?
Probably not....

Mice like the easy access holes...

While I was at it, I removed the front & rear windshields, gaskets, quarter panels and the dash is almost out.

doesn't every car have 8 alternators and 8 power steering pumps in their trunk?

saved the roof panel to repair my 1950's Sport Custom car

the car is going to the boneyard, a lot wasn't saveable - interior was so wet the door cranks won't budge!
