ah....Chrysler woes.....a little history..........
In 1971 John Deere Co. was involved with a mutual marketing agreement with FIAT. We old womaned....and said, "Do we have to understand that we territory mgrs. will have to give up our Chevy Impalas & Plymouth Fury lll's to allow this foreign company in our history basket?...........JD Co. cancelled all merger talks w/ Fiat w/ in 30 days..........we became #1 in tractor sales world-wide in 1975.......all w/o FIAT...........

The recent Barrett/Jackson auctions in Scottsdale,AZ. prove that HEMI, MOPAR, and CHRYSLER Cars and Trucks make Chevy and Ford HIDE!!! ($115,000 for a STOCK Cuda 440 six pack)
Chevy 283 'vettes ('57-61) bringing 100-110 grand
and Mr. Barrett saying ...."This is the first American car to make one-horsepower per cubic inch in 1957..even though it was an optional add on code for FUEL-INJECTION............They may have sold 24 million dollars of "OLD CARS" last week...........
BUT!!!
Did not one think that in 1957, a 345 CU. IN. engine Desoto.........in a factory retail package gave 345 H.P. STOCK!!!! (the 300-C was 392 CU. IN. 375 HP)
DESOTO was the first stock American car to offer 1 HP/ per cubic inch............STANDARD EQUIPMENT)
Ford and Chevy tucked their tails and ran..........oh yea, chevy soon had a 409 w/ 425 hp and Ford had a 427 w/ 435 HP...........but Chrysler was there first w/ ONE HORSEPOWER/PER/CUBIC INCH DISPLACEMENT...in 1957
(truth be known........the Chrysler 300-B was offered the year before(1956) w/ a 354 CU. IN. Displaement engine, with options that put out 355 H.P.).........
Chrysler was always so far ahead........it took the public several years to find out that they were not LYING.
Ram-Induction Carburation.........
727 Auto trans that STAYED in 2nd gear......til 95
Swivel Bucket seats..........that Chevy copied 16 years LATER in a MONTE CARLO...........(Bought while sucking wine from a brown paper bag)
But our BABY went on and I bought a new 1986 Dodge Ram-Charger in 1986 in Atlanta..........and to prove my furthar belief in Chrysler Corporation...I bought a new 1986 Chrysler T/C Convertible on my way out the door......$41,000.00 for Chrysler and Lee Iaccoa........that day!
My loyalty to Chrys. Corporation can only be best described in 1971 when my new 1971 Dodge Charger R/T six-pak was side swiped by an International Harvester tractor, while my wife and young son were in the car.........The dealer who made the repairs....was the owner of my OWNER FINANCED HOME.......a GM DEALER!!!.......He gave me a 1964 Imperial 4 dr. sedan to drive for 4 weeks while my '71  R/T six pack was being fixed in his body shop.........the IMP. was purple and white........and loaded with opts. I almost cried when we had to exchange cars back.........6 weeks later.......and take my 440/6 pak back. (I sold 8 JD tractors, 4 Snowmobiles during that period......knowing my friends knew I had got into a "Recession" in sales.
My dark green, R/T back.............I hauled an off-duty trooper to Middlebury,VT. for a 48 hour ride back to Earlville,NY w/ a BIG WIDE JD TRACTOR to close the deal on a holiday week-end
(Memorial Day).........to allow me to make the down-payment on my first house........white w/ black shutters........on main st..........Earlville, NY.
Made my brother the JD dealer.........and moved on...

Later chapters to follow........Chrysler Corp. always near.

OK Polaraco, If 3 acres of woods in Pocahontas,AR. might help you....Will give free hiding place. Sounds like $750 bucks is good deal but would $950 have gotten you this box on wheels with 2 tail fins?.......fix 'em......drive 'em and then trade 'em in the dark!!
Oh, very pretty truck, and right brand. When Government money comes forth for merger of GM and Chrysler........what we gonna do then??? Restore a Monte Carlo w/350 V8 to get ram tubes for a 300-F -G -H?? Have owned 36 cars in my life-time, never needed a Chevy yet!
Best Wishes on new acquistion......

Now if that doesn't look like an accident about to happen...what is?....After the horror story of changing just brakes from drum to disc, by one of our leaders here, who would even walk across the street to take this PRIZE as a gift?
My advice..FWIW......save the trip money and get the Dawn Rose 300C.....all done and upgraded for 75 G....or offer 69,500 and watch him spit!!
I just moved from Philadelphia to Pocahontas,AR.
Been very busy taking care of my own business......but hope none of you good fellas have fallen on your heads!
Time is money.........and never shall the twain meet!!!
Still unpacking and watching for real deals.......on real cars..
that are DONE!!

I also saw a news article about Chrysler today............
They announced they are getting out of the leasing business........losing money on the residual values THEY established 2-3-4 years ago. That's almost like cutting your nose off to spite your face. W/O leasing...sales will further decrease.......not good news for Mopar fans. I doubt 100 special option dragster sales will solve the crisis facing Chrysler today. This company needs to get back to its roots and crank up engineering and innovation, not tricky sales promos. I'd be willing to bet anyone on this site who would order one of these HEMI DRAGSTERS.......has got a damn Honda or Toyota in his driveway. The Chrysler building in NYC was sold last week to foreigners.........Budweiser was sold to another European country. Wachovia Bank managed itself so well in the last 90 days it actually managed to lose 100 MILLION DOLLARS.........A DAY!!!.........for 90 days and NINE BILLION DOLLARS LOSS....TOTAL!!!

......My little chrystal ball sees more bad times ahead for many companies and individuals.
To hell with dragsters and HTF gas. If houses are losing value what might happen to used dragsters? DAH?
Let's get real and sign orders for quality family cars and "banker's hot rods" again.........Chrysler doesn't need just a cool sip at the trough of sales.......they need a good long refreshing, satisfying drink!
Send me a dealer retail order form for a 2009 300-N!!!

RIGHT ON MATT..........another FREEDOM they want us to give up.....ashtrays and lighters were once STD. EQ.....
now is a dealer add.......guess we'll lose that option next.
Reminds me......'65 Ford LTD .....was riding in (ONLY).....had a self-cleaning ashtray.......turn AC on and presto......ashes all gone......if you don't count the carpet or front seat!
......but as I recall.....they were worried about a Pinto gas tank at that time!!......Jus' some of Ford's midnight engineers.......working overtime, huh?

Say what you want about ebay........it moves more cars than ony other medium. AND that is why you have to be very careful......as any auction. The fact that it is driving prices down only reinforces its effect on the market. I've heard of  bad deals on Craigslist myself ; Ebay just handles more so you get more bad guys. True value is what someone is willing to pay for it. Paying more doesn't make it worth more.......on ebay or anywhere.

Canton, GA. is not far from you.....look at this '74 Chrysler sedan w/ working AC!!!.....500 bucks bid....auction almost done. Bet 1000-1100 will buy this solid car for cheap transportation for the boy.

Hi OBSA.........Sounds like u got teen/ready/to/drive ........Lucky you!!!
Am sure the '60 four-door could be very practical for your boy.....and sense they don't have many drive-ins left in U.S. today....it would be almost pointless to point out the fact that 8 buddies fit in the trunck of a '57 Lincoln convertible, or 7+ in a '57 Desoto Convert.........318 will give fair gas milage and still manage to push a few unsafe neons off the right of way. Young teens are discouraged from riding w/ other teens today.
But, the four door sedan will be good hauler for parts to reconstruct Father - Son projects...HUH?....LOL............jus' make sure he learns safety and responsibility.........the "cruisers" will come later....

UMMM...auto stop windows........this be priority in '08 I guess.
My old generation had SWIFTER options to choose from. Sure, PW were great and std. on my old cars. But we took it a step further I believe. We bought options like: auto. radio seek switch on floor...(one arm around gf?)...underdash record players...(save nickels being swallowed in jukeboxes).......power swivel seats for E A S Y entry and exit
made girls dresses stay below knees...(little hanky-panky)
Convertible tops that closed and LOCKED w/auto. elec. motor screws..(no manual over/under latches)....Automatic greasing of 50+ chassis and steering fittings at the press of a button on the dash..(red light went out when completed)
oh yea, more........Double Eagle Good Year tires w/inner tire
and a blue dot on sidewall??..(impossible to have a flat!)...
Automatic head light dimmer eye...auto. rearview mirror mode to eliminate glare.... (from rude, too close, following cars)...hidden gas cap fillers, lots of ash trays...(many with little white lites above).....boots for convertibles that fit tight and FLUSH w/ no raised humps ~..~..~ (and starting in 1958 covered colored metal boots that did all the manual work with only (7) little extra motors) and hey, how about those wonderful electric radio antennaes that went silently up and down w/ only 2 drops of WD-40 every Saturday nite
yea....push-button trans. controls; custom floor  mats w/ car manufacturer name or logo, DEEP pile carpeting, and chrome window vents (powered).....and nice slim chrome lids over windows to keep light rain out.
Back inside: lighted vanity mirrors mtd. on back side of practical sun visors that turned to the side windows.
I am sure I have missed some other NICE features we do not find on luxury? cars today......but many old ones were for safety, comfort and convenience.........twas just a shame we had to pay almost $6,000 for one!  BUT: NOCHGFORFINS
LOL

P.S. Not allowed to post pics here....yet!..it says, sorry -

Hey Fellas........Even "F"s have to have parts cars........
1989-1995 I had my JD junkyard in Conyers GA. (next-door to the JD Atlanta Branch. My neighbor was a junkyard car dealer and we chatted often as I showed him my restored 2 cyl.JD tractors on test drives. I "literally watched him charge a customer "$1,000.00" for 2 used Ram air cleaners for 60-61 "F" or "G" 413's.
Remember that was 20 years ago........
When the big dogs come off the porch to restore their letter cars..........prices become VICIOUS.......is a shame but, If I were 20 years younger I would have some of these letter parts cars in my backyard.........u gotta dig for gold, drill for oil.....OR..just hang a big figure on an "F' or "G" part. HUH?
