If you remember when 134 first came on the market they claimed you had to change every rubber part in the system to retro. At the time I had a old farm truck,81 chevy. I got the fittings put em on charged it with 134,worked fine. I didn't even add oil,just wanted to see what would happen,so to sum this up I think they were wrong,you are right -just a way to get more money!

I've retrod a lot of cars and never had to change the expansion valve,I put 4 or 5 oz.oil in and charge it-no problems so far. Hope this helps.

If your not burning coolant or losing coolant it's likely not a headgasket,pull the plug and see what it looks like.
