General Tech / 727's by the numbers....
« on: August 13, 2014, 11:09:02 AM »

Trying to help this guy out. Can the application be determined by these numbers?
He has them listed on CL in Bowie, Md. He claims one is out of his brother's 69

Here is what he did give me
from the pan rails:
The 1st 2 sets of numbers are cable shifted units. (2 and 5 in the pic going left to right)

what he calls the lower case, but have no clue what he means.

General Tech / any interest in a 73 Fury 4dr parts car?
« on: July 26, 2012, 08:29:12 AM »
I may be able to pick up a running 73 Fury 4dr, 360 for just a couple hundred bucks...  Thinking 360 donor for Jake's 65 B'cuda, disc brake swap donor if there is an interest, and the body and all trim seems really straight....   My question is, other than the discs and the 360, is there enough demand for the rest of it in pieces to aggrevate the wife with it in the driveway for a month or so while we take it apart???

MEMBERS Project Cars in Progress / Jake's 65 B'cuda
« on: January 24, 2012, 05:46:39 PM »
I had posted on here somewhere in July 2011 about Jake's 1st car, but here is an update that I'll maintain going forward as progress creeps.....
So we let our oldest bring home the $400 rust bucket, nowing full well that it needed a complete restoration. The original plan was to get the Shelby Dakota freshened up for him to learn to drive in this coming fall....But nooooooooo, this little 273/auto B'cuda found me...... Really is a neat little car that will almost fit in the Fury's trunk.....
The time-line thus far:
7/16/2011  dragged it home the whole 4 miles from the house
Thankgsgiving week  parked the Fury outside and rolled the B'cuda into the garage. Totally dismantled in 5 days - Had Jake makesure we boxed/bagged/tagged everything
By Christmas, we had the floors cut out and patches made from the original tree limb dented hood
Last weekend we swapped the 7-1/4 out for an almost stolen for $150 complete 8-3/4 3.23 sure grip.
As of tonight, floors are done, inner fenders are done and we just cut the left 1/4 open.
The pics tell the story..... although they are somewhat out of order.....

MEMBERS Project Cars in Progress / Phase 1 nears completion

Of course phase one is getting my Shelby Dakota freshened up to be my daily driver before rolling my son's 65 B'cuda in for the tear-down... His little brother enjoyed helping me get them ready as much as I enjoyed the help! I'm dragging it home from the paint shop tomorrow mid-day. Stripe kit should be here by next weekend. Assembly should be complete by mid November.

Tech- -BODY / 65 A-body 1/4's
« on: July 17, 2011, 03:01:44 PM »
If you read the "General Discussion" forum,  you'll see where I'm coming from...  I'm not real familiar with the pats swapping of the early A's.  I have been an E, C and B body man up until we brought my son's car home this weekend. I'll be checking with Moore's in a couple of months or so when we start the tear-down process for 1/4's..... but until then, can any of you fine (or otherwise) gentlemen check a swap manualand let me know if infact the 64/65 B'cuda 1/4's are interchangeable with the 2-dr valiant?  And are the front fenders the same as the 64/65 Darts?  If so, I may get a better price if 'm buying for a Valiant instead....  Mucho appreciated.....

General Mopar Discussions / And so it begins.....
« on: July 16, 2011, 03:51:12 AM »
This afternoon, my 14.5 yr old son and I are dragging his 1st project home... 65 B'cuda 273/auto in the floor. Car is 100% complete except for the radio. Needs 1/4's - the biggest challenge to find, and tail light lenses. But is rust free and straight as an arrow otherwise.   $400. He/I couldn't pass it up.

We were supposed to re-do the Shelby Dakota for him... new order is to sell my beater 99 Dakota, use the proceeds to strip/paint and restripe the Shelby for me as a daily driver, and after the Holidays this year, roll his B'cuda in the garage and start building his driver..... So my 69 Bee/clone will wait yet another 5 years. Good thing his little brother is only 3.....\\

Tech- - DRIVE TRAIN / Kickdown cable vs. linkage
« on: January 19, 2009, 03:18:10 PM »
Took the ragtop out for a spin Wed eve... Only the 2nd trip since installing the 3.55's. Mashed the pedal and yes there is definitely an increase in the pressure to your backside as the yacht takes off.  At the 3rd stop light, I mashed it again and my throttle stuck partially open. I ended up with a 65 mph idle up hill....  Shut 'er down, pulled of into a parking lot and figured out that my fabricated kickdown kinked at one of my joints and wouldn't let the throttle return home. Soooooo - that got me thinking about installing a cable kickdown in it's place. Anyone here using one? any issues?

Tech- - DRIVE TRAIN / Speedo pinion again...

29 inch tire, 3.55 gear.... how many teeth?
Thanks in advance....

It's not a C by any stretch of the imagination, but the deal was right and too good not to share what I found...  65k mile 1990 Dakota SE, 4x4, v6, long bed. The dang thing is in as good of shape as the wife's 02 Durango....   It will do well for a beater, parts runner, row boat carrying vehicle.....

Tech- - DRIVE TRAIN / Put my 3.55s in today
« on: November 15, 2008, 10:28:58 AM »
Swapped center sections today in the Fury. Went from a 3.23 to a 3.55 gear. Drive it like a geezer and it feels the same.... mash the go pedal and there is a noticable increase to the pressure on the seat backs!
Now I need to mind my green 34 tooth speedo pinion gear....If it's not out in the shed, I'll go buy one this week.
