thanks guys . not quite sure about a console just yet . the way it's set up now kinda grew on me .  my dart has spent all it's life in WV. , charleston , to be exact . when i bought it it was painted red , thus it's name Big Red . it only has about 36k on her but has had some of the typical rust issues , like the front floors , which have been replaced . little rust around the quarter lips but real solid about everywhere else . i have the original dealer receipt a few other papers and believe it or not , the original key packet from delivery . when i started on her i had every intension of redoing her in red but steve will tell ya . i keep changin things around . what i wanted to do as you see it now was to do a modern day rat but not in all the rust and dent stages and keeping within the design of being engineered after the fighter jets of the late 50's , thus the molded tail lights and the wing . the wing i set on the trunk lid probably a dozen times before it was a go . the biggest effort was drilling mount holes , something i hope i never regret . as far as the hood pins go the hood , lets say , was really not in top condition , as it had earlier repairs . i'm hopin that within the next few months i'll have the 383-727 in with a custom slip drive shaft , rear discs brakes , with a hand brake . the rear is a 742 from a 67 ply. but with single 292 gears . it had a set of 391's but they were just a touch high . so i have a 741 sure grip that'll have 323's . i gotta set of knock off wires , with adapters but coming up with a grand for wide whites is going to be a stretch especially when i know i'll be rippin up the streets with em . i think thats the main reson the old trans is leakin so badly . i just can't keep my foot outta the gas and with the floor shifter , i shift every gear every time . i always said the reason god gave us gears was to shift em ! ------by the way , i'm goin on 63 and am still a gear head ,,,,,,,,,,,,but some may say bone head ----------------------------later60 dart2012-03-20 01:54:19

good lookin ride dragon . i think your best choices for engine upgrade would be a 383 0r 440 , with a 727 trans . reason being is that using the old castiron torqueflite is way to obsolete to find parts for and a trans from someone like tci can be had for about 12-1500 for a good street ripper trans . what i'm using is goin to be using a 64-383 , with stock 727 , at least for the moment . base advertised hp. was 305 with two bbl. . after i get a few miles one er again i'll be going i think the a cross ram setup . keeping in mind this is a hot rod type car for me . i don't want a sunday car or a grocery getter as that's whats the wife is for .
later on down the road i have a stroker kit for my poly 318 . if i live long enough and the lottery happens my way that to will get a chance in my 60 dart also .
the 413 deal may work for ya . but one thing you gotta remember is the 413 stuff is gettin real rare also . a 383 might be 20 ci. less but the same effects can be had with way less aggravation and the cross rams will still bolt .
it's goin to be a little bit before my engine change happens as right now i'm just putting together all the cosmetic parts i can , like aluminum v-covers , torker intake , all stainless bolt replacements , aluminum water pump - with aluminum case and a rebuilt 64 afb . . if not the afb then an edelbrock 600 or a holley 650 . the best thing for you to really keep in mind though is to build it for you and your purpose , remembering the smell of burning rubber in the morning . any questions you may have about your dart that i can help with i will and if i don't have the answers , i'll point you to who does -------------------------later

mopar performance says yes they will interchange but with a slight difference they don't state . one alignment pin and one bolt hole doesn't match up . can't remember wich ones at this time but even so it's a direct bolt up early A and LA--------------------later 60 dart2008-10-20 05:23:34

por 15 doesn't like uv's but if you top coat while tacky with cheap chassis paint it works very well-----------------in time the top coat will wear but the 15 will be there for ever but may be touched up easily------still pretty good for an oooold fart----------------------------------------later 60 dart2008-08-13 10:50:46

Tech- - STEERING WHEELS AND SUSPENSION / PS Pump belt. Catch 22?
« on: July 28, 2008, 02:52:07 AM »
pull the belt ---hand turn the pulleys for any tightness or resistance and clean the pulley grooves with a mild abrasive like scotch brite(very clean) and last make very certain you have the right size belts (width)-------------------over sized or undersized belts and pulleys will slip and in time crystalize and screach------why ?---because they wear in quicker and loosen up------why clean pulleys ?---if they slip over long periods of time the pulley surface will heat and become extreamely smooth = slip-----------later

don't know bout the listenin part but i started negative postin on em 5 yrs. ago------got screwed on a dual stainless setup for my dart but hell i'm only out 860.00-------they went to the dumpster except the turbo mufflers------had a single set up made at classic exhaust at geneva on the lake ohio for 250 , they were off by three inches on pass side------i had to temp. weld back together my old single just to move the car------when i got time i built a jig for the single and made em good just as practice welding------they came out real good but i have no use for them-------my goal is to use a set of ballenger shorties i have--------------didn't mean to high jack the thread ---sorry guys----------------------------later
