ok guys i want to get rid of my points ignition system.
what are my option and what parts would i need??

If you really want to be cheap. . .
 
Find a 72 or 73 car that hasn't been violated too much and grab the disty, harness and box.  My experiences it it will plug right in.  Chances are, it will plug right on.  Later years you'll have to splice in in a couple of places, but that's OK too
 
You can use a distributor from any LA with a vacuum advance on it.

how much of the engine harness do i need to grab??
and i was thinking of grabbing the parts off of ebay.(no yards around here got any cars that old

The Ignition part.  If it's integrated, then get the whole harness and separate it.

For under a hundred bux..
Buy the Pertronix conversion kit,install it in 20 minutes--done.
Toss the points as far as you can.

It is simpler, but it doesn't give the compacitive discharge.  But they are good.

It is easier to swap if you do remove the dizzy.Yet not necessary.
I prefer pulling it out for the job.Mark the position of the rotor THEN pull the dizzy.Install in exact same spot,set timing.

i'm not havign a porblem with my points but i just want to get rid of them ASAP
