Wondering the same....honestly, so many former members/contributors from years back have dropped out, and so few visit with any regularity, that, frankly, it isn't very productive to check it out what's what here all that much anymore... well, so, everything runs it's course, and maybe this place has. Too bad, because it's been a big help to many in the past.

As for me I'll be in VT drinking beer on my pontoon boat for the next 3 weeks with very limited computer access - a good thing afaic.(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/attachments/58/gp4.jpg)a g

OK, so are you simply going to be sitting on the pontoon boat in the yard, or are you actually going to be putting it on the water? I do check a couple times a day to see if anyone posts, not much going on right now, mostly landscaping myself, haven't gotten to do anything on any of the cars, but I did just spend five hours waiting for the headliner in the wife's Mini to be replaced!

Well I don't leave it on the mooring when I'm 300 miles away... would you?  She'll be floating again shortly. I'll make sure to get some pics hoisting a cold one or hauling in a few perch for supper.

You're close Steve... she's the USS "Tiki 'Toon"... Mai tais, Daquiris and  Red Stripe are served on deck at  the dot at 5. Come on up... we're only 5 hrs from Joisey, our next door neighbor is from Verona. We all have a pretty good time ... and at our age, why not?? Heck to the yeah!  All here are welcome!

I've been on boats all my life.  Dad was LT, then Captain after the war, on USS Anzio Escort Carrier  CVE-57 for 5 yrs during WWII. He loved the water, so we always had some kind of a boat growing up... no yachts, just little runabouts, but always something to be out on the water.  It's in the blood. If I hadn't been married I'd have gone NROTC instead of ROTC in '68.  My Dad did NROTC at Tufts Engineering, so he got stuck down in the engine room for the first 3 years. He could tell some stories.

I don't see the beer cooler or the Bar-B-Q.  Where's the Hammock?  You have a cover for that?

LOL  Me too.  That Garrand was a great rifle.  Much better then the M14 of the day.  I carried one in Nam too.  You must be older than me then.  So you are now officially the senior member.  I was in a ROTC high School.  (My Mom had a dream)  Went right in the Army in 69 to get it over with.  Was a Sargent after 6 weeks of basic.  Then it was 2 years of hell after that.  Went to back to school in 71 on a 4F.  Got the 12" scar in my gut to show.  Makes a great war story. . . .LOL

Oh, so you've been 4F since '71?  OK, so it's not something that has happened in the last 3 years....

You put the top on before it was painted?  How was the roof sealed before that.  I hope not just primer.

Post by: dana44 on July 29, 2014, 12:19:58 PM
As long as it is epoxy primer it should be OK, and not scuffed up, that is.

MMMMM   I dunno about that.  It's still porous

I've had epoxy primer in the weather for literally decades and not have it rust. Sticking glue on it and then vinyl cover will more than be fine as long as the surface wasn't scratched with sandpaper so hairline cracks were in the surface to allow moisture to get in and start rust.

That's in the open.  Don't trap moisture over it.  Why do you think Polaraco's roof rusted?

Some of us were lured away to another forum with the promise of utopia.  It isn't.  Some of us got kids and moved so ther hasn't been alot of time or money.  Though I have been making progress.    Still not driving it yet, but this winter should take care of the transmission.    Currently chasing electrical grmelins and getting the body at least straight.  Been shop insurance this late int he season but maybe I'll take it out for a few mile drive before it get yanked apart again.

And it is nice to come back from two weeks of pure near bliss vacation after five years and actually see more than one post, this is great! Hope nobody missed me too much, I know I was having way too much fun for any individual to have, but did miss all you guys (in a manly way, that is).
