There and back, had one of those really great bonding times telling family relative stories to my daughter, who can drive now, so we almost fight over who gets to drive. It was one of the fastest and most enjoyable Christmases I have had in a very long while. I hope everyone out there had at least half as good a Christmas as I had it was that nice.

Hope all travellers in the Midwest & NE have a safe trip
home!  12 or more inches and 40-50 mph winds are predicted here,
it started coming down hard around 3PM and driving coditions are
BAD!  4-5" on the ground right now.  Luckily our daughter got
the bus out this morning to LaGuardia and hopefully a safe flight home
to Denver, before the snow hit Binghamton... safe travels
everyone!

Night time on route 209 between Port Jervis, NY and Stroudsburg, Pa is like being lost in the woods....after all it is all State Park. Breakdown or go in a ditch and good luck someone finding you.....(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif)

Thank you for your  thoughtfulness!  But, I'm glad I went to see everyone.....even though the trip back was a nightmare. My nephew enjoyed his toys. I have to instill the car/truck side of life to him, as his father isn't a car guy....but a "gasp" football fan!(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif)

That rt 209 used to be scary even in good weather... we used it when we
lived in MD to go up to I-87 to VT.  The truckers used to call
that section along the Delaware between Stroudsburg and Milford "The
Slot", they'd fly along that remote 2 lane rd going from I-80 to I-84,
and boy was it scary.  Got in huge backups due to accidents
several times. I think trucks are banned from there now, TG. Yhe lower
part near Stroudsburg and all the big Poconos resorts up to Dingman's
Fery is really built up now, used to be sort of rural 30-35 yrs ago.
Pulling a boat, we'd always leave home around 3-4 AM with the 3 kids
asleep in the "way back" of the 73 Custom Suburban, and stop at the
Milford Diner for brakfast around 7 AM... great food!!

Happy New Year!!!

So that's why trucks are banned from 209.....and most of the route is 35mph with a few 45mph areas.

Happy New Year

209 isn't a easy drive even in a pick up
