Title: Which carpet to use?
Post by: Robert F. Brogle on September 09, 2012, 03:42:58 PM
I have some experience doing carpets in the cars.  I used Trimparts carpet on two of the cars. I was happy with one set, not thrilled with the other.  Trimparts actually lists '68 Newport and '68 New Yorker as different carpet. Isn't it the same?

I used ACC carpet on the convertible, and it's faded, but I guess that isn't a shock on a convertible witha black interior.

I'd love to know what's has worked for all of you and more specifically, Sticherbob.

Thanks!

Will do, thanks Steve. Hope you're feeling well.  I've followed your dash swap a bit-you are far braver than me!

Got too much time on my hands Rob.  Besides.  It's done just in time for the heating season.   That was the #  2 reason.  Car hasn't had any heat for 6 years!

If I told you how many cars I have with little or no heat, you'd laugh.  I think I have officially given up on the Auto Temp system in the '68 Newport Custom-that's going to be converted to standard A/C I think.  New Yorker is is enough to spread out amongst the cars that don't have it. 68 300 has no heat at speed (core likely plugged), '70 'vert is a non A/C car so combine 'vert with small core and you get little heat.

So what's the consensus with a carpet supplier? I'm in the market for one in my 58 DeSoto...one that fits my car...not a generic one that fits several makes/models.  Any one have any experience with a good vendor?

Thanks Bob

Auto Custom Carpet......will be a cut and sewn carpet for that year car. The padding is already glued on the back so you may need to remove whatever your car has on the floor so the carpets fit right.
