Title: Frame Repair Advice Needed

Hello all!  It's been a while...I am not sure if I have ever introduced my AMC\\Jeep CJ7 named Mangy Mutt but we just call her Mangy for short.  She is an interesting Jeep...my toy and sanity when typical '1st world life problems' get to be too much. (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif)

What do you think about cutting it out and using a good driver outer rail to make it a full 3/16 box in that section?  I'd do the same to the drivers side so both sides are of equivelant strength.  My old frame's outer rails are still solid in that section.

Yes, Using the other frame and plating it would be a good solution to really stiffen it up. Drill a few quarter inch holes in the section in order to stiffen more than just the side welds, spot weld fill the holes to connect the two pieces, too. If at this time you wanted to increase the life, powder coat the frame, and if that doesn't work, and since you are going to all this level of work for your level of abuse, box the whole frame so as to be watertight, I imagine a majority of the damage is from getting soaked and then not properly draining, cancering from the inside out, especially the frame weld seams.
