Welcome!! Hey are you in Plattsburgh? I used to live in Chazy, and we
still have our summer camp directly across the lake in Malletts Bay VT,
just N of Burlington, I was just up there last weekend. Love your car -
if you look in "Wanted" you'll see that I like 55/56s!!  I'm the
main ForwardLooker around here, have had a bunch and a 58 Chrysler is
due to come one of these days soon. A lot of very helpful &
knowledgeable folks here, it's a good resource. And check out
www.forwardlook.net, for parts and help, I'm "firedome" over there too.

I don't know what the mitary highway is.  I do the trip 2 or 3 times a year so I forget.  Sometimes I run through lake Placid as a diversion.  But it takes 1/2 hour longer.  I actually end up in Ft Covington.

No kidding!! Our address was actually West Chazy!!  we had a
lakefront house right where Dunn Rd 0ff Rt 9 meets Lakeshore Road, Dunn
Rd deadends at Lakeshore right across from our driveway, on the tree
is (was?) a sign I made out of birch sticks that says "Minnetoska", we
named our place that because that little point was called Minnetoska
Point, we were just N of Monty's Bay Campground.  We had 6 deep
water moorings we rented out to Montrealers. The wife took the
Cumberland Head Ferry to Burlington to work everyday, but that got old
and  expensive, so we went back to VT for 2 years, then moved down
here (Binghamton) in '06. Lke to see your 56 when I'm up sometime,
we're in Colchester, only 15 min  from the Cumberland head Ferry when you get to
the Grand Isle side.  Where exactly are you in W. Chazy?

Know it well. I miss that area, much quieter than here, or even VT.
When we bought the place you could still get stuff cheap, it was
originally the main lodge for a 1930s tourist cabin camp and had been
converted to a house, needed lots of work but had a cool big stone
fireplace and 200' of beach. The year we moved away neighbors on both
side sold off their places and one carved it up into 3-4 lots, probably
a bunch of yuppie places there now, just as well we left I guess.

Definitely try Pertronix I, works great and very easy to install. But as Ed said fix the basic issues first.
