I rebuilt my buddy's James' 74 Charger dash wiring and then rebuilt and detailed the cluster.
Installed the 150 MPH speedo and brand new tach. Also upgraded the Voltage Limiter to electronics.

The woodgrain was put through the dishwasher and whatever silver was lost was redone with a silver metallic Sharpie marker. (Yep..a Sharpie and it matches perfectly)
All the guages work and the needles were painted with Testors florescent red.
SNAPPY!

Before the dash,I helped my buddy Rusty do a paintjob on a 97 Mustang.
I did the dirty work of swamper duties-kinda like when I go visit the Joisey Mob bloss,LOL!!

Rusty has the fenders belonging to the Boab set in primer.
So I am hoping I can cash in my favours this summer when I get back on the Boab.

I am not gone too far away, just not had time to to be on the www lately.
Cheers!!

Yeah, side jobs can be great. Never have to stick with them from start to finish, keep you from getting bored with a project, right?

Nice work on that dash! ...I'm liking post '70 Chargers more and more,
also Satellite Sebrings. And they have the advantage of being (sort of)
affordable.

Well the side jobs keep coming.
Poor BoaB has not got any love latetly.
Gerri crashed the 300 in March.Got it fixed, and my insurance company made her sign an exclusion letter not to drive it again. She was at fault and the claim was over 10K.
So,I gave her the pizza car to put her own insurance on it.
Much cheaper in the long run.
But the pizza car only lasted two and a half days with her behind  the wheel when it spewed all 7 quarts of tranny fluid onto the road. The front pump seal failed and the tranny shop explained there may be a stuck valve in the valve body building up pressure.
Time to get another car.More on that later.

I got all the wiring on the Charger done. The car is now in running condition.
Everything inside the car and under the hood works! no blown fuses ,no fires started.LOL!
Only the extrerior lighting needs to be done once the fenders and bodywork is complete.

Seems like the word got around town that I did a good job on the Charger's electrical, iso I took on another project.
1970 Newport Convertible.
383 2bbl,nice original car with very few options.
After many years of storage and a recent freshening up,none of the dash electrics worked and had a draw on the system.

Car is for sale,if anybody's wondering.PM me for  the details.
I took a week to get the horns,washer jug,hazard flashers,and heater working.
Plus the draw on the system was the time delay relay--it was on all  the time.
I also did the MAD conversion and serrviced  the bulkhead connectors.
All the burned out  bulbs in the dash were replaced and the harness for the idiot lights was pulled off behind the heater controls. That was really fun to get at and re-connect,LOL!
The Fusey dash is NOT fun to take apart.
A bonus for the owner is i got the key buzzer working and the fasten seatbelts light working.
Hey! He wanted EVERYTHING working,so as annoying the buzzer is--it works!!
Here Gerri is enjoying the open car experience,LOL!!

With all the college students gone for the summer, the pizza biz is slow.
Good thing since the Phord is on an  IV of tranny fluid and bleeding profusely.
I make Gerri park it in the street it is bad enough.
So,I bought another car.
83 Dodge 400 coupe..90 KM's I'm its third owner.
2.2,auto.Buckets,floor shift console.
Cheap on gas, cheap on insurance and cheap to fix.
Not to mention tough as nails.
More pics to come...this Super K is absolutley the cleanest K car on the planet.
here's a tease..

Nice car and you have its ability/reliability correct.

Sounds like you lost the front seal on the transmission, pain to change, but yeah, when they go, they go all at once. Usually doesn't damage the transmission itself, too much fluid is lost to allow any slipping, but replacement can be a joy, that seal with the input shafts coming through the center of it makes for some creative thinking to get it out.

Here's some pics of the 400 I scored.
There's none of these cars left in our part of the great White North where salt had consumed the floors and rockers.
it is amazing how clean this car is for an original Ontario Canada car.

Car was garaged all it life. Original owner never drove it in the winter.
When she passed away, her grandaughter sold the car to the guy I purchased it from.
The well appointed interior is mint,mint,mint..Pretty posh in its day, too.
Bucket seats are very comfy..

The Trenton built 2.2..It was the engine that defined Chrysler  in the 80's and 90's --much like the slant six did in the 60's and 70's.
Yup,mine has the enivitable holley 2bbl and lean burn system.

The 400 was based on the K car platform, but had a stretched wheelbase.
Chrysler nicknamed it the "Super K"
The Landau roof is still very soft and no cracks.
Note etching on the opera window.

I'll get some better pics of the belly tomorrow when i put her up on the hoist..
But you can actually see where factory paint line between the silver and black.
Note original exhaust. This car has THREE resonators--and nooo cat convertor..that's the way she was born.

That is a cool car in amazing condition!! Working in auto service must
pay off at times when you need a car.  I've always liked K-cars
and their derivatives for some reason, especially these early '80s
ones.  Very awesome find... find me an early pre '85 Reliant like
that!

Roger, this may be the last K variant left up here in this good of shape.
Had her on the hoist on my lunch break..
I typically see plywood, stop signs, fiberglass and bondo, but my girl is factory solid...

Where muffler tape and furnace tin is usually found,my 400 still wears her original rocker panels.
Some road rash--but no bodyworked needed here.
Even the jack points are still attached.
Typically they are the first to rot away making every K owner throw a two ton trolley in the trunk and finding a place to jack up the car turn into an Easter egg hunt,LOL!
It 's been a long time since my screwdriver did NOT go through the rockers of a K car.

Send her back to driving school. Then make her buy her own car and pay her own insurance. Worked for me.

She's already buying her own insurance.

Then she should be able to buy her own car, too! My daughter got her driver's license a couple days ago, missed two on the test for being too conservative (which is a good thing), waited for a person to cross the road completely when walking in a crosswalk, and left five extra feet between herself and a car in front of her. In short, dad taught her right. Last night, we went out to get ice cream, had her floor the PT Cruiser up the hill to feel what it is like (and because she hadn't ever gotten to do it), had a nice smile on her face.

My wife is a born again teenager at 46.
She never had a driver's licence up until three years ago.
She paid her own way through driving school and got a discount on insurance for doing so.
She is a good driver--just goes above and beyond,LOL!
So she is going through the same crap any kid with a new licence would go through--speeding,tailgating,music cranked, etc that led to two at fault incidents, two speeding tickets and too many parking tickets for my liking...

However reality has set in when the insurance Co. made her sign a letter of exclusion and is no longer allowed to drive the 300C.Her status went from two stars to zero in one year.
She is lucky her licence was not revoked--but she needs to drive to bring in income to the household.
Sux making payments on a car she cannot drive (But I drive it everyday, nya nya nya)
She is paying her own insurance on the Escort and will transfer the insurance on the K once it is ready for the road--or the Escort craps out permanently--which ever comes first.
That outa slow her down and realize the consequences of not paying attention to your driving..
Maybe the 300C was too much of a car from the start.
So to simplify things,an old basic car with fewer distractions and much less horseower outa make her focus on the task of actually driving the damn car.
The 300C is very close to being paid off,so we are keeping it.
Besides with my clean record, the insurance on the 300 for me is very cheap.

Well that's good news!  You racked on the miles on it.  Needs a good polishing.  Which remonds me, I need to measure the bumper.  When you come down and you bring the 300, maybe I can run around it with a machine and brighten her up a bit.  I hate black! LOL  You can hand glaze it when done.  There's a deal.  Last time I saw it, it was due for a good polishing.

After the last incident, the front fascia was replaced and painted to match.
Both headlamp assemblies got replaced since they were damaged.
Those puppies cost 1500.00 each being the projector HID units.
I had to wait two weeks for them to show up.
During that waiting time, the body shop gave the car a good buff and wax to match the fresh paint up front.
Well worth the box of donuts I gave them.
