Title: Bought a 70 Monaco
Post by: azblackhemi on November 02, 2011, 06:34:15 AM
I bought this off of E-Bay last night. Going down to Tucson Sunday to pick it up. I think it will make a cool driver. I have the parts it needs like the fender extension and side glass from a 70 Polara I parted out.   http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/270840403379?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmotors.shop.ebay.com%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp2041548.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D270840403379%26_sacat%3D6001%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/270840403379?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmotors.shop.ebay.com%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp2041548.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D270840403379%26_sacat%3D6001%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1)azblackhemi2011-11-02 10:37:11

WOW... is that NICE!!!  Great color! and I love how the sides are
completely unadorned except for the low moldings... very
classy!  And window sticler and broadcst sheet to boot! Bonus! The
fried interior is a minor thing compared to the body rust we have to
deal with back here...Yet another beauteous AZ car find!

Thanks Rog. I love the color especially on the interior. I really thought the bidding would go a little higher than it did but the market is in the dumps. Good for me on this one I guess.

Is that rise in the middle of the grille, right below the hood edge supposed to be that way? Looks a little off to me. I really like the backup strip lights on the rear corners. Definitely a good looking car, and your upholstery guy can take care of that interior easy enough. Definitely a nice looking addition to the collection.

Yea Ed the top center of bumper looks a little bent. Nothing a block of wood and a BFH won't fix.

Thought it might be an optical illusion. I am a big fan of grilles having to be good in cars I buy, they are expensive if remanufactured, or expensive to get a good one. Hopefully I get out there after the interior is done, see what your guy does for her compared to the station wagon front seat, which was, I must say, gorgeous looking.

One of my favorite colors...FK5 ..Burnt Orange!!  And that is a fine looking vehicle to have that color on it.  Good score on that one for sure.(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif)

Look at the D in the center of the hood. Right below that, in all the front end pictures there is an upward crown that doesn't look right across the top from headlight to headlight.

Nice score Chris.

Looking at that broken shroud, I'll bet the motor mounts are shot.

Too bad the 72 header extension is different,  I have several of those.  But I might have that chrome trip

No worries Steve. I've got the fender extension. It's even the same color. I parted out a FK5 70 Polara last year. I've got the rear quarter glass and radio for it too. I'm gonna run down to Tucson on Sunday to pick it up.

You might be right Snotty. Or maybe someone just leaned on it. No problem, I have 3 or 4 good shrouds for it. The reason I bought this car is because of having all the parts for it. And because I love the color combo. The reserve lights are way cool too. I think the price was pretty good too. I guess there are alot of reasons I bought it LOL.

Do any of us actually need a reason? That's half the problem for an auto-holic.

pretty dented up, which I didnt notice in pics.

No I don't think I had time to cut them off whille you were here.  Roger I told you they were dented but once you separate them from the trunk extensions they will be easy to hammer and dolly straight before you weld them on.
