Title: 3 on the tree 1956
Post by: mopar111k on September 11, 2011, 06:37:57 AM
(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif)(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif) Ok guys here is the scoop. I took my 1956 Plymouth Savoy to a "Restoration Shop" and now the body work is done  and looks good. The so called mechanic that was working on it had NO IDEA on how to work on a flat head 6 with a manual 3 on the tree. I was informed that the trans would not shift into reverse and I told him to stop and I will get it fixed by a trans shop. Now that I have the car home I looked at it and the idiot did not even put all the linkage back on the car. I have not found the linkage in the pile of parts yet but was wondering if there is a place I can find a diagram of how this is all supposed to go back together IF I do find the parts. I left the car original to make it easy on them and they can not even get it put back together correctly. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone has a complete linkage they would want to part with I might be interested in purchasing that to get my car on the road.

THANKS

A factory service manual will have all the info you need.  And if you own an old car you should have one regardless.

I got a good re-print for my 48 Desoto off e-bay for around $50.
