Title: Coolant Recovery System
Post by: Stitcherbob on December 02, 2010, 03:28:22 PM
anybody have a clear photo or FSM page that shows the correct installation of a 1973 Imperial/NYKR/Newport coolant recovery bottle? I bought a good used one on  oBay, and it's for a 73 C body plymouth Fury....I think they are all the same for C bods

White Vinigar.  Lie may be too harsh

well I decided to start with the mildest and work up to caustic....

First was hot water. Nope....

Then hot water and 2 denture cleaning tablets (from Dad)....after 3 hours nothing (but smells minty!)

Now it has hot water and laundry detergent soaking .....

But I glassbeaded the bracket already, painted it with semi-flat epoxy black, and drilled the car's rad support for the bolts. I had to bend the horn over about 1/4" to clear the bottle (I don't have that charcoal cannister there, it's on the other side of the support) The bracket has 2 sets of holes as seen below:

and I needed the lower ones to clear the support. Even then I had to oval out one hole so I could get the nut to clear...but it will be just as the factory offered for trailer tow/maximum cooling (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif)

The hot water/laundry detergent soak worked.....had to wipe the bottle out with a soaked paper towel on the end of a stick, but it came clean. Tomorrow it goes on the car, and maybe for a ride ....you know....just to make sure it works (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif)
