I ought to teach him an easy way of removing cotter pins instead of tugging on them like that.  Works every time, even when bent.

That doesn't always work.  Been there, done that.  Even with the expensive tool, sometimes they will just refuse to come off.  If someone greased the tapered shaft, you're screwed.

(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif) Thanks for posting Stan...I need to be able to do this for 3 of my 4 Mopars...I was told that I had to get an original type (heavy duty) brake drum puller because the new ones are cheap/lightweight and they just don't last.

I have one of the original pullers that you use with a hammer.  Got it from a guy whose Dad used to run a brake shop.  Works great and never had a problem with it.

Snotty...That's the one I've been looking for...and from what I'm told, those are very hard to find!...and when you do find them...you need another puller to pull it out of the dead guys hands...(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)
 
Steve, Thanks for your offer to loan me yours...but I'm going to need to own one as I''ll be going through the rear brakes on the 41 ,57, 58 one at a time now. Who knows at the rate I move how long that will take me. Thanks for the offer though. I do appreciate it.

Not a problem Bob.  I have the same one Snotty is talking about.  The thing is a battleship.
 
You could just losten the castle nuts and drive around corners until they pop.  My dad used to do that

thread somewhere... those frickin' early drums are one PITA to remove.
Even heat and a BFH doesn't work sometimes... from a FL owner x 5.

Well I'll need one too when I get Fernando home.  I'm going to swap out the rear eventually for a more modern 8 3/4, but for now I'll be running the stock brake set-up.

Leaburp is going to be here in a couple of weeks.  I can have him bring it over and ship it to you on the Canuck side.  I don't need it, and can borrow one pretty quick if I do.  I don't have anything that requires the puller anymore.

That's for sure!  I no longer "need" the one I have but am holding on to it "just in...." 
 
I did loan it to a Buddy.  After wondering for a year when I was going to get it back I was at his house and saw it.

I have used the factory tool with a hammer before. It works great but takes longer to set up and longer to remove. I'll be shopping for this modern remover if I get another pre 65. Thanks for the link!
