Title: Oddball truck?
Post by: Dan Cluley on July 02, 2010, 11:50:18 PM
They were filming scenes for a movie here this week.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433035/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433035/)

The steet scene included the Cadillac Sixteen concept car and this IH cabover thing which seems to have a lower windshield by the drivers feet?

Anybody know if that is factory, or is it something they cooked up for this film?

Very innovative use of a cab that was used for many years.
Obviously, not much  other than a regualr cab mounted high atop the engine.Looks like it was stacked on top of  the fenders.
At the same time,I find it hilarious that where the firewall would have been on a conventional truck had two windows.

Screw the truck!  That Cadillac Sixteen is incredible.  But, typical GM, they probably won't take it to production.

And of course, Dodge did it.  Although technically a semi-cabover:

If it makes it into production, maybe they can find a better solution for the park brake(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)

If I described the tractor that I did my first road trip in, you'd never wonder again why I am so grizzled.

Want a cabover? Need one quick?  Take a conventional and throw a pickup cab on top of it:

I always dreampt of doing just that.  But not as Uckin Fugly as that thing. . . . .  That thing is horrible

I remember several manufacturers raiding the parts bins and doing that.
Heres a Ford version.  We affectionately called it The 1 1/2 story Falcon.

I started out in a 64 C700 Tractor, then went to a C8000.  Talking about slow. . . .

Thanks for the info Stan. (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif)

There's a company here that does amusement rides.  They still had a box truck with the A-100 front as recently as 10 years ago, still have a couple of late '60s GMC things sitting around.

Listening to the crowd, I think most of the women wanted to meet Hugh Jackman, and most of the guys wanted to drive the Cadillac.(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)

Yah, what a crude hunk-a-crap that was. A real bottom feeder by any company that was trying to do a fleet on the cheap.  I drove the next version of your father's...
