Not a project car, but at any rate it's my new ride...just arrived late last week. A 1941 Plymouth Special Deluxe Auxiliary Coupe from the west coast.

Absolutely stunning.  I am so freaking jealous.  The car is the quintissential 40's design.  Have GREAT luck with it!

Excellent choice for taking to church on Sundays.
Actually,when new,the Plymouth was voted the best engineered car in its day compared to Ford and Chev.
The car won a lot of races on dirt tracks,and used by the Army.
Over half a million Plymouths were sold before war was declared.Edging out Ford for  2nd place in sales.
There was even a big expedition where a 41 Plymouth was used to travel from Detroit to the lowest tip of South America,Cape Horn.

I like how the speed lines on the fenders are pressed in steel instead of slapping on chrome like GM did with Chevy... very classy.

Thanks guys...I appreciate all the positive comments. Here's the scoop.  I bought the car in early April...had planned on shipping it enclosed...the car sat and sat and sat in the sellers garage and noone would pick it up. The broker I used intitially had said that it's a popular route for truckers and getting an enclosed truck would be no problem...well it turned out AFTER I signed on with them, they changed their tune and said  that VERY few enlosed truckers took that route so I decided to go with an open trailer. My biggest fear was that the car being nearly 70 years old would have some rain water leaking issues. Guess what...I was right..upon delivery  I felt the carpets and they were soaked. So...right now I have the interior pulled out. I was very pleased to find a rock solid floor though with just a little scale around the perimeter so I've been treating that with rust converter and then rustoleum paint. I was happy to see the undercarriage too..It's very clean with no scale. It's a very straight car too with real nice chrome. Older quality paint job so the nicks and stray scratches are already there. All in all, I'm happy with the car...but it's going to be a few weeks until I have it all back together. Did you guys know that the whole 4' X 2' front floor pan in these cars unbolts and comes right out? The transmission is right there...the exhaust, e-brake cables....master cylinder is all opened up for easy access. While I have the floor pan out and since the non-original carpet was glued down...I'm going to blast it and repaint it. Very cool car...Roger, I love the horizontal bars stamped in the fenders too. I don't believe the 40 and earlier cars had that....and after?...I think they did away with them.  Thanks again guys.

I definitely like it. Neighbor down the road has a 41 Chrysler Windsor coupe. Couple months back there was a second one sitting on a trailor, not in bad physical shape, just needing restoration, like it was an Arizona desert find.
