Title: 62 HT Wagon
Post by: azblackhemi on February 20, 2010, 01:56:01 PM
Drove through fog, rain and snow today to pick up this 62 New Yorker Hardtop Wagon. Yes Northern Arizona gets snow. It was well worth putting up with the elements because I've wanted a hardtop wagon for a long time.  It runs and drives real well.  I'm gonna clean it up a little and drive it for a while while waiting for the time to do it right. It's got a 361 that has had alot of work done and a rebuilt front end. New tires and Road Wheels that match my trailer wheels. Stan, what do you think of that? Here's some pics, whadda youse think? Moving it to Members Rides.  Since you are keeping that one.

I have first dibs when you are ready to part with it.

No A/C.  Too Bad.  That's a Newport Grill

Nice, straight, and there is nothing wrong with a 361 in my book. Alls you need is a little white-out and that will cover the primer bleeding through!

Another brain fart, It is a Newport wagon, not a New Yorker. I thought the grille emblem was a NY'er emblem.  Steve I know I've said this before but I'm keeping this one. I am always working on everyone elses cars so now it's my turn to be selfesh. The body is rust free but it does need floor work and spare tire well work. The floors are no big deal since I have plenty of rust free floors in parts cars but I may have to look for a spare tire well.

That's OK!  I won't have to work on it when the time comes. (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif)

That thing screams for a set of 61 Fury tail lights-I bet they will look HOT on there.
The three badges missing on one side, clean up the other side by removing the others.
Tan interior,console & bucket seats up front,and a 300 grille.
Shave  the door handles, add matching dual mirrors.
Lose the radio antennae, install a hidden satteilite radio/CD system.
How about a plate that says NO POST or WGNHDTP or HDTPWGN
Keep the wheels on it they look good.

Nice find 'az'...!

The NY'ers came standard with a 413, while the Newports came with 361 standard or the 413 optional.
I've got the NewYorker version of this wagon actually...

When you look at the side of her, it is easy to see how station wagons were made back then.

Too bad they couldn't figure out that the newer Magnum should have been a 4door sedan instead of ruining the name Charger for a sedan.

[/QUOTE] I love your wagon Big Block. Did you restore it or buy it that way. If you restored it I will be asking you alot of questions when I get started on it.

Bought it the way it is, 'cept for the wheels, tires, flames and lowering job (which has a bit photoshop involved here).

This is an ex-Johhny Rosen car. Friends of mine bought it years ago from him in AZ. They brought it over. I saw it in their garage and fell in love with it. But I could't buy it because there already was a buyer they had promised to car too first. But the guy didn't follow up so I could buy it from them.

My wagon had an incorrect 440 in it first. When it started ticking lightly I decided to find and put in a more correct 413 motor from an Imperial.
The ticking in the 440 turned out to be sold lifters that needed adjustment, but by the time we found out the 413ci was already waiting to be put in.

I was just about to write that a 361 and that grill do not add up to a New Yorker.  Thought I'd read all posts first....
