Checked my tires just before I left from work. I counted 4 of them and one in the trunk....  Is that a good thing, or bad?  (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)

My question is..
Who in their right mind keep a tire in their inventory for 14 years??
Typically, any business that has dead stock attempts to return any tire  for credit that does not move before doing a fiscal inventory.
Simply a lack of common sense.
That ABC report is old.
Most broad market tire retailers do enough large volumes the tires do not stay on the shelf long enough to get old.
One year is tops.
Besides, all offer a manufacturers warranty from the time of purchase thsat covers defects and workmanship.

When I worked at NAPA in 1984, I took a Sharpie marker , made a paper sign and priced a Marson plastic pop rivet gun to put out in the lobby for sale. In 1998 I saw it at their new location, still with the sign in my handwriting and still priced the same.....just an example of how well stores check their stock and return unsold merchandise....
I have to go back and see if it's still there in 2010 !

Did Audi ever fix the 'sudden acceleration' problem?

Actually the problem with the Audi was pedal placement, and only here in The good old US of A was there a sudden acceleration problem.

The issue the report seemed to skirt was the exact scientific evidence that established the 6 year limit. Call me a skeptic but I find it hard to believe that every type of tire regardless of make, method of manufacture, material compound, storage conditions etc. suddenly becomes unsafe as soon as it is 6 years old.
