Title: P.S. Pump Identification

There were four (!!!)  PS Pumps for my car in 1976 .
Early 440 w/o A.I.R.
Early 440    w/A.I.R.
Late  440 w/o A.I.R.
Late  440    w/A.I.R
 
I have the Early 440 w/o A.I.R.  P/N 2891463
 
AZ and Advance list the following rebuild kits for my "make, model, year (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif) ).
 
Te problem is, depending if I compare pictures of pumps from Rock Auto, Advance, and AutoZone, they give conflicting descriptions of which is which.  Is the EGG shaped resevoir or the ROUND resevoir the Saginaw?  My resevoir is round.
 
Looking at the pics of my pump and the kits I listed,  which kit do I want?
(or in other words, do I have the Saginaw or Chrysler (Federal) pump?)

You have a Federal pump there, note the round filler neck and cap with ears.

Which would mean you DON'T have a Saginaw unit.

Does your's have a threaded shaft? My 67 didn't and you had to disassemble the pump to press on the pulley. Just buy a rebuilt one from AZ. The shaft gets threaded when they rebuild them.  PN #6157 looks like yours. Its cheap money and has a lifetime warrantee. That's a federal you have.  When Raymond was looking that up he said so.

They ar eall the same basic pump.  The difference is the pully diameter and depth.  If I remember right, the one with A.I.R. had a dual pully.  It will work.

There is a difference in pully diameter. My 383 has a smaller pulley.

At Mopar shows, I see plenty of big block A-bodies. 
In fact, you can cram just about anything into them:

Stan,  not sure you're aware of this but the 63-66 A-body's are about 2" narrower in the front between the frame rails than the 67-up A-body's. 

That's why you don't see many big block early cars.   A lot of work.    Smartest thing would be an AlterKtion front end,  lotsa room that way.   Shumacher does make conversion mounts & I wouldn't be surprised if their Tri-Y headers might fit but you'd have to check with them.

IIRC, didn't the factory make a very few Hemi Darts in the 68/69 period?
