Title: 1965 Chrysler 300 Convertible Project
Post by: Scott on November 15, 2009, 06:49:27 AM
Here are some before and after shots of my restoration.  I estimate the restoration will be complete by January.  All that's really left to do is install the glass and power window regulators (vents too), button up the interior and install 15" Magnum 500's.  I took the car all the way down to a rolling shell and restored/replaced virtually everything.  This car is hard to find parts for.  Luckily, it was 99% complete to start.

God Bless you for saving a great car!!... that is a fabulous job!! Do
you know of Don Rook in Arkansas? He is the man for 300 parts. Looks
like you don't need much now though.

Thanks!  I've never heard of Don.  Does he have a website?

Don't know, he was big in the 300 Club, lived near Allentown PA and
then moved to Arkansas, back when I had a 300C in the late 80s. I
bought a '62 Polara 500 'vert basket case from him in PA around 1978. A
country boy type, not a snotty guy, he had dozens of 300s and many
Imps.  I'm sure you could track him down thru the club website or
something, or just Google him.

Where did you get the "cardboard" trim pieces for the trunk sides?

Wow... .What kinda polish did you use on that paint? ;o)

The car looks awesome! congrats.
I really like that console between the seats. I once bought a console for my '64 NY and secretly tried fitting it in my '65 300 convertible, but alas it didn't fit of course without major modifications.
Now seeing your car with a console make me want to have on in mine aswell again.

Thanks Dan.  Don't forget, it's you and your car that have helped me with quite a few of the details.  I've been waiting 2 1/2 years for it to be done!  (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)

Glad to help, and I have actually learned quite a bit looking at your photos as well.

I've had mine 7 years now, and every year I plan some projects and about half of them get done, but it's still fun to drive, and that's what is important to me.

Yep, that's what this hobby is all about, helping each other out.

As for the driving, man, these cars drive nice.  Don't they?  I don't car how long the restoration took, or how much money was spent, cars were made to drive.  I can't wait until this thing is finished and the wife and I can drop the top and head up to Santa Barbara via PCH.  (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif)

Kinda reminds me of the VOAB.  At least yours doesn't need 1/4's.

If I can ever get some time, the darned thing will move along this winter

Yeah, this car had zero rust; solid as a rock.  I guess sitting in the desert since 1980 helped with something.
