Title: 727 One Wire Neutral Safety Switch

I am having a hard time finding a neutral safety switch with a single wire like the one I currently have.  I can only find the three wire one with a connector.  Can the three wire switch be wired so that it can work with my single wire?
It was a toss up wether this topic should be here or in electrical...

You can use a 2 post. . .  Just be careful to use the neutral safety side and not the back up light.  You'll need to check it with a light in park.  It's not original, but it works the same.

I am very bad when it comes to electrical, I need this to be very simple to understand.
 
Do you have a part# for the two post switch?  I know that the actual switch side on this inside might be different in some cases

That brings up a good point, I was told that the reverse light was controlled by a cam type switch actuated by the steering column.  Is this true?

What car is this again?  Some were.  But that still doesn't matter on the neutral safety.  It won't effect it.  You're only using one side.
 
The easy way to find out is to guess at a connector and try it.  If it starts in reverse, then switch it and visa versa.
 
What is this doing so we can make sure you're not just changing parts.  Neutral safety is not all that common. . .but for some reason, they sell allot of them. . . . LOL

Just for future reference.  To use a 3 wire switch with the older setup, the wire from the starter relay should be connected to the middle prong on the 3 wire switch.
 
The outer two prongs are for the back up light circuit.  I assume it's arranged that way, so that it doesn't matter which way the plug goes onto the switch.

Isn't the reverse lights switch a cam switch on the steering column?

You can't use a later 3-prong with a 68-back Valvebody without changing the "Rooster comb" on the VB.     Won't actuate correctly.

The comb is plastic made onto the shaft that goes through the case to the linkage,  with the vVB out you just pull the c-clip on top & slide it out,  replace with a 69-up version.   Only fun thing is the spring & ball for the detent  arm to watch,  don't wanna be chasing it all over the room.

One of the reasons I have spares of the one wire switch.
And I am sending him one.
No need to hack or modify when the right schtuff is made available.
Besides they do go bad that often--just get old and leak .

I have done it several times with no problems.  The last one I did was the 59.  That's still hanging around.  I needed a back up light switch

Thanks for the input.  I am chasing a tranny leak, and this is the last point to change out.  I am surprised at how low the surface tension is for tranny fluid.  It can wick through anything!

A 50/50 mix of tranny fluid and acetone is more effective than PB Blaster.

Leaburn, thanks for the neutral safety switch.  It showed up, but unfortunately, the switch side is not big enough to actuate.
 
The switch has a plactic button that is larger than the smaller metal button as shown in this picture.  I don't want to go to the trouble of changing the rooster comb out, so I will go on the hunt for the one on the left in this picture.  Their is an engraving on the switch that reads: 2770 660 MOPAR CPE.

The one on the left was used on the '64 console shift and all '65-'68. The metal contact is surrounded by plastic.
